Great video showing brilliant airmanship. Knowing the aircrafts performance is key and you made a good call, saving the aircraft for another day.

"Always better to be on the ground wishing you were in the sky, than in the sky wishing you were on the ground" as the old saying goes. You did the right thing, it's never worth the risk.

Great video highlighting exactly why we set abort points ! Well executed - calm throughout. Nicely handled. Also - got me thinking what shape the ballon was...... 😂🍆

Yeah I still think I could have got up and I probably could have extended my abort point because of the resistance in the soft ground - it slows you down so quickly! But as I just said to Rory, what was bothering me was landing! The thought of the nose wheel digging in just created too much doubt to either give it the extra 50m or give it another go!

Good video and a good call, thanks for posting/being so open - no harm done, right decision made. Also for authority on the ground the EV97 seems nose wheel reliant but that contrasts with having to keep it light and not bending the aeroplane/lifting the nose. And if you did get airborne you've got to get back in amongst all those ruts, slippery mud etc. Good lesson learned. That does look very boggy - the taxy looked problematic tbh. and there was so much rain in the winter of 2019/20.

Muso Seven thank you - it was very wet. The thought of landing was already in the back of my mind as well! It did also feel important to stick to the abort point I set myself. Thanks to watching 😊

Yeah I think you made a good call there to abort. No point pushing it and stacking it into the hedge. However, having seen you had the airspeed by the abort, You could have made the turn around the circle and applied full power just as you were almost lined up to keep the momentum, you had enough stopping distance too so possibly a second attempt with a little later abort point? Always better to be cautious though.

Rory On Air absolutely! One thing I missed off on the video was another thing that was bothering me...if I had got into the air, with the ground being so soft, what would the landing have been like?! The thought of the nose wheel digging in was a factor in parking her up! But at the same time I had loads of stopping distance because of the resistance in the soft ground. I probably could have extended my abort point by 50-60m comfortably but then that thought of the landing crept back into my mind again! It was a tough one but I figured, if I have doubt, might as well try keep her in one piece and fly another day instead!

Let's Go Flying which is why I think you made the right call. Excellent stuff

What's the point of abort points if you don't stick to them. Good choice, tomorrow is another day
