Hi Jimmy! I am partway through my application process for uni, Durham is my top choice at the moment and I was wondering if you had any tips for personal statement writing, thank you love your videos!

Hi Jimmy! I'd just like to say, your videos have really helped so far in giving me a students perspective of Durham. Went to the open day, and fell in love with it! I've just got a few questions for you; I've only done 3 AS subjects this year, so does that put me at a disadvantage (for natsci)? Also, what's your favourite thing about Castle? Since I'd love to apply there. Thanks for the vids! Tom.

Thanks Tom, I don't know about natsci specifically but seeing as generally Durham gives out offers with 3 grades anyway, I don't see that as a disadvantage. I honestly cannot pinpoint one specific area that I love about Castle but I would have to say everything is down to the tight-knit community that we have. Thanks to that, we put in a lot of effort into every aspect of life at Castle. That's what makes this college great.

i'd like to study Criminology at Durham and i was wondering where is the department located...? is it closer to the Bailey or Hill colleges? i would highly appreciate if you answered, cause i'm torn between two colleges, both in a different area😄

Hey! Is it compulsory to stay in a college during first years when at Durham uni? Am I allowed to find my own? Please reply :))

I believe it is compulsory unless it's a special circumstance. And it's best to stay in during first year because that's how you get to meet new people

Hello, Superb video I had query I have got offer letter from 3 colleges for may intake ALGONQUIN college Ottawa campus CONESTOGA college kitchener campus Durham college Oshawa campus I am confused which one would be the best suitable option for me in terms of education, getting good part time job while studying in that particular area. College which has good placement cell which would help me in getting job in my field that is finance or banking sector which would also further help me in getting PR. Where Cost of living and travelling will also be minimal in those cities. Which would be best college for me please suggest. Or should I apply to more colleges in Toronto region where all banks head quarters are situated. Thanks in advance.

How easy is it to study abroad at Durham? Id been planning to study in America so im looking for a uni that will allow me to study abroad there for a semester or year instead
@iamJKL8 жыл бұрын
There are many opportunities and options for you to study abroad. It depends on your course and how well you do in your first year. In most cases, unless you have a year abroad built into your course like modern languages, you have to get a 2:1 in first year. Which means an overall percentage of 60 or above. It's worth contacting the department that you are thinking of applying to, to find out exactly the requirements for a year abroad.

+iamJKL thank you so much, would you say it was relatively easy to get the opportunity presuming you do meet the requirements? Or is it very competitive to get a place of your choosing?
@iamJKL8 жыл бұрын
My year abroad is a built-in one because I do Modern Languages and Cultures. So it's in fact compulsory for me to do a year abroad. In terms getting the placement of my choice, again it's different for MLAC students than others. We have to sort out our work/ study placements ourselves and we have slightly more flexibility in our placement choices, in that we can inform our department of our destinations pretty much last minute if necessary. Whereas, for the other departments, you'd have to sort out your placement quite early on and let the uni know exactly what, where and when this is going on.

Is hatfield college good? Ples reply!
@iamJKL7 жыл бұрын
Hatfield College is the second oldest college at Durham. They value traditions almost as much as Castle do. But I wouldn't know whether it's 'good' or not. Best thing to do is to go to the post offer open day in March to get the first hand experience of the college.
