I totally agree with you. Both my late husband also agreed to have one child. We have always wanted a girl. Our wish came true and we never wanted another child I lost my husband when I was just 48 years. My daughter was my strength and support. I wish everyone had these same feelings when planning for second children. People don't think about future expenses and how having multiple kids effect their children lives. Quantity over quality.. People should adapt this phenomenon on having kids too.

@RAJAN PRERNA I do agree with you. Parents are a little selfish. They want kids but don't think about how less kids can result in giving their kids a much better life. I have even seen situations where kids from a big family have blamed their parents of how their lives turn out and how they couldn't achieve what they want to.

Your views resonate my thoughts. I have a little daughter and have been under pressure for a sibling to give her company. I do feel the same way like you about finances and independence. I do get confused sometimes because I lost both my parents to a horrible incident when I was quite young and my brother and I were all we had for each other. I hope we are able to give her everything we ever wished for.

Hi Maitreyi it's of course your choice to have a second baby. But the fun and the learning we get by growing up with siblings is something else which no money can get. I have a sister who is just two years older. The bonding we have is unexplainable. All the learnings cannot be had from a good school or a so called elite college education. The point is one needs to be happy with what we have and life definitely is better having a sibling

Maitreyee, this is an absolutely personal matter. Only a couple can know whether the want one kid or ten. But, if you think about it, every child desires a sibling.And they have a right to do so. Its the child who becomes lonely in the end. They tend to cling to their parents. Separation becomes very painful in the later years. Anyway, only you both know what is best. Sweety has got cousins at least. So no problem. By the way, I am the only one in my family with two. My daughter beats me with three! Rest all have one. So I see some differences.
