I just bought this game to play with friends and family. Watched all 3 of your game plays and I must say it was BY FAR the easiest way to learn to play this game. I want to thank you both for putting in the time, and making it fun as well. I'm now confidently prepared to play for this weekend! Wish me luck! :)

Bartholomew gave Gunther a side-longed glance. When they first set out, Bartholomew had nefarious intentions for Gunther. He was jealous that Elizabeth had possibly chosen him! But as they traveled down below, he got to know Gunther and he realized that they had a lot in common. And now, faced with mortal peril, Bartholomew decided that not only would he need Gunther to get out of this, but he didn't want Gunther to get hurt. (Choose the reason option, and exert to get to 5 if you have to.) The experience with the cave dwellers had changed Bartholomew and Gunther. They were now solidly on each other's side. A small band of brothers in which Elizabeth could not break. On the way back to the village they agreed that whatever happened with Elizabeth, they'd always be friends.

Pep peering over the storybook at 15:38 made the whole episode. Also: fight those monsters and strike fear in their hearts if you intend to occupy lands below. Otherwise they're likely to disrespect you and be a thorn in your side until you show 'em who's boss.

Ooo, this is going to be fun. I think one-eyed Pep, better watch out when he sleeps. Forging a shiv is one of the first things us Smiths learn how to do. One more cider and old man Rodney may starting thinking Pep could do with one less eye.

I say that upon seeing the Glogos, Bart realizes his mistake. Shaken by their size and power, he realizes he was foolish to hope that he could get his rival out of the way without endangering himself. Stammering at first, he attempts to negotiate safe passage.

+Mike Risley As Bart stumbles through his words, Gunther's eye begin to water and his face begins to flair red and he begins to scream. In this moment his mind immediately jumps back to a simpler time in his life when he and his childhood best friend Tom would explore the caves. Tom and Gunther were inseparable. Through the thick and thin of their numerous adventures they always had each others back until one fateful day when Tom befriended a young Glogo named Chaz. Chaz was the coolest kid from the eastern cave this side of Glogian City. Chaz's parents gave him everything. He had the latest and greatest X-Rock system and had all of the games for it. From then on, Tom only wanted to play games with Chaz at his house and this was before the 4-player hook-up connector was even invented so Gunther never got to have a turn. Tom never wanted to go on adventures with Gunther after that and the two just drifted apart. They never spoke again. Gunther still holds that grudge to this day and every Glogo he meets brings back those painfully memories.

Have Them Attack: An idea click in Bartolomeu's head, he leans over to Gunther and says "Let's beat these guys up and take their stuff!", Gunther then chargers towards them, Bartolomeu thinks "If we win, we get the stuff but if we don't, Gunther gets beat up!

Elizabeth, the teacher, values knowledge over brute force (Gaston from Beauty and the Beast disgusts her). Gunther is actually Gaston's long-lost son, so he is also repulsed by brute force. Bartholomew is secretly afraid of getting impaled on the Globos's back spikes. Go for the higher Reason option, exerting as necessary (while playing Obi-Wan's theme music in the background).

My daughter says that Bart was annoyed the whole trip and he was not in the mood to be told what to do by some Glogos. Worst comes to worse, he knew he could handle himself, and if his rival ended up hurt or dead, well sometimes things happen.

4:15 - Are you supposed to replace buildings as you build them? When I first played this game we were under the impression that they only refreshed at the end of the round. (We played with 4 people so maybe it's different?)

You always replace. "After the player has finished placing his new card, if he chose a house or outpost card, he then must draw a new card so that there are four available choices for the next player." Hope that helps.

I am color blind as well. It sucks. Champions of Midgard when I first opened the game I didn't realize the food and wood were in the same bag I thought they were all the same color. BUT I have since replaces the food with little wooden steaks. Pep the struggle is real and you are not alone!

Sadly the school teachers trifles wrought in him a competitive fire to impress her as Gunther yell's "Wait you fool" and follows suit but is forced to fight and protect his new friend.

Can you explain why you're recruiting each of your people? It's pretty easy to tell with the buildings, but hard to tell the abilities of the recruits and why you would want them.

+Benjamin Coberly I didn't really realize that I hadn't been giving much reason for who I buy either! Generally I'm buying whomever is cheapest (2 or 3 cost) and provides the higher lantern bonus with the lowest roll. Whether they are a builder or a scribe just changes how I strategize for later.

Gunther doesn't feel totally accepted as part of the village and need to prove he deserve it. Jumping into the fight without asking our dear Bartholome. Gunther of course is ready to go all the way to exhaustion to prove his worth.... Is Bartholome brave enough to do so as well ? ;)

+Christopher Hein When buying tiny cups/dishes, I always suggest a large number of clear glass dishes. Make sure they match, so it doesn't set off anyone's OCD or symmetry issues. It's important that they be clear, so people can see what's inside them. And the glass makes for a nice ting noise. But that's just my opinion!

Bartholomew and Gunther looked at the creatures before them, the spears, although crude, would still be an effective weapon and neither wished to have an ugly scar on their face, Elizabeth would not fall for them if they got badly hurt fighting the Glogos. Putting their hands up in a non-threatening manner they attempted to REASON with the Glogos, fighting would not be the answer.

For those that want stats, Rodney has only a 11% chance of failing the negotiate WITHOUT putting either of his characters at risk. To fight without putting his characters at risk, Rodney has a 75% chance of failing. Risking only one gives Rodney no chance of failing the negotiate and a 25% chance of the good negotiate, he has an 11% chance to fail the fight if he does this. Risking both gives Rodney no chance of failing the negotiate and an 89% chance of the good negotiate, he will definitely win the fight with no chance of the good fight if he does this.

I feel like I am going to be more interested in the development of the story and the characters as opposed to who might win the game as the series goes on. Anyway, I feel like it would be much better to reason with the Glogos because there is a higher chance of fulfilling it and if not obtain the Explore 5 rewards. Storywise, Bartholomew and Gunther decide to attempt reasoning with the Glogos because Bartholomew had thought that it would impress Elizabeth with the fact that he had made friendly relations with such a species. Gunther agreed with the decision claiming that he is a pacifist and does not seek any violent outcomes when in reality, he just does not know how to fight and is more often than not the one who is beat up when involved in a fight.
