I'm not really sure who or what I really am, I've had a mental illness since age 13 and from age 18 until 40 years of age I was on antidepressants, alcohol, weed, and hard drugs, and this has altered my perception of reality quite a bit, but I know I like this song and my life is definitely getting better because of my dedication to staying sober. If I could speak to my younger self when he acquired the illness I'd have told him how to hang on, and stay alive, without turning to medication or other substances just to find the will to live. My life is definitely getting better as we speak -- new job starts in February, my fiancee and the kittens are doing fine, and it's time to manage the second half of my life, whether the illness hits me hard or hits me mild, the right way. And for those of you who have to continue to take meds to survive I fully understand why you're doing it. Now that I'm off them I feel all of my emotions and this is both good and bad -- it's good because I can now feel what everyone normally feels but bad whenever the disease hits me hard and makes me feel insane or like doing something very harmful to myself or others. I might always have this underlying condition, it might forever follow me until I'm dead, but at least I'm dealing with it the right way now. Whenever it gets too powerful I don't feel anything when I play music, sadly, but right now I feel it so for that I'm thankful. Maybe over time as my sobriety period increases the symptoms will decrease -- as I said, though, the illness came 5 years prior to my abusing substances and I began abusing them as a reaction to it. Every individual has their own take on hearing this song and this is my take right now.

I saw Above and Beyond on the beach in Florida - was a really intimate gathering - such a POWERFUL show! They went on at sundown. It literally changed my life and perspective. I was with my husband (it was our anniversary) and it was so awesome! I remember I thought it was raining, but it was actually these sprinkler things to keep everyone cool - it was amazing - probably the most amazing show I've ever been to.

the way I see it is this, the intro, (first 45-60 seconds) isn't conducive to that older A&B sound that got me addicted, whereas the remainder of the song is just beautiful, gives me goosebumps and makes me feel invincible.
