@@jimdavison4077 yes our ER cost money! They will treat everyone but Ben and I have paid crazy medical bills of the years. Most of our time off has been medical holiday. We have never really had great insurance because being a mechanic doesn’t come with good medical benefits. In the next couple of videos you will see a lot more. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas 🎄
@jimdavison40774 күн бұрын
@bandmsgarage being self employed makes it very hard to get good medical insurance. I know that even here in Canada. My wife has worked civil service since the 90s so we have good coverage but then our Province of PEI has pretty good universal healthcare. My mother at 78 was dignosed with stage four liver cancer. She had put off going to her doctor because our older doctor had retired and in his place we had a doctor the same age as her granchildren. It made her feel feel uncomfortable. But he was excellent with her and us even though I feel like calling him Dougy Houser. They gave ger six months to live as the cancer has spread to nearby organs and tissue. She finally agreed to move in with us, we were just four miles form her home so we could take her back for an afternoon now and then. Our kids had grown up so we had lots of room. We had lots of outings early on while she could still Travel so she saw her siblings and extended family. She didn't want to spend her final days in hospital so we were able to have home care nuses firt twice a week then more often as needed. Any hospital equipment they thought might be needed could be drawn from the provinces reserves. All hospitals are provicial government run here. No for profit hospitals. The province has three different drug programs which provided all meds from pain meds to blood thinners to chemo medication. The entire process cost us some gas money and thats it. She lasted the six months and I can say they were overall enjoyable having her here where my wife and i could look after her. The worst snag was when she had to use higher levels of morphine it affected her short term memory and she woke up every morning wondering why she was in my home and not in her own with her mother. Almost every day for a month we had to tell her about her illness and her prognoses. We also had to explain her mother was passed for years now and our kids were grown up. Some days she didn't push to far with the questions thankfully. For the last two months my wifewas able to take time off work and help. They call it care and nurturing leave and its part of our federal employment insurance program. It pays you most of your wages while you are off caring for a child or parent, siblings or so on. In the end she passed in our arms feeling loved and our family wasn't crippled with any bills. Everyone should have this type of program available for their loved ones. I realize not everyone could take the time off like I did, self employed as a body man, welderand machanic so worked in the evenings and when possible. I see what healtcare is like in the US but don't understand why people put up with it that way. You all deserve so much better. Take care and happy holidays to your family from ours.
