This week’s adventure continues my on-going series of visits to various former American Presidents’ homes. In this vlog I travel to Lincoln City, Indiana and Hodgenville, Kentucky to explore the locations of two former childhood homes of President Abraham Lincoln. I start of in Lincoln City, Indiana where I tour the visitor center and then walk up to visit the Lincoln Farm, the grave of Nancy Hanks Lincoln (Abraham Lincoln’s mother) and the remains of the original log cabin where he lived as a child. From there, we travel to Hodgenville, Kentucky to visit his home at Knob Creek near his birth place. Another President’s home and a cool adventure for me to try an honor one of the greatest American Presidents! Do Come Along!!!

It’s kind of embarrassing that I thought Lincoln was born in Illinois. I learned a lot from this video. The first cabin, at least the foundation was pretty cool. It’s a shame that it wasn’t preserved in someway, but I would assume most of the destruction or decay happened long before that was a factor anyone considered.

No worries, I thought exactly the same thing about his birthplace. 😁 Most of his professional and political history started once he arrived in Illinois as an adult so it's easy to overlook his beginnings. The cabin foundation was really interesting to see and it is nice to see that it's now preserved. I loved how it just sort of sits in the middle of the woods, undisturbed.

There's a small town about midway between Charlotte and Asheville -- Bostic -- that claims to be the true birthplace of Lincoln. There's a museum there, too, that discusses it. I don't think many people outside of Bostic believe it, but the locals sure do.

We're supposed to be going to Asheville later on this year. Maybe I'll have to check that out while we're in the area! 😁

@@UnkleHeavy That'll be a fun trip. We used to drive to Asheville for dinner or an afternoon of apples just south in Hendersonville. Good bit of stuff to see in Asheville but plenty more if you strike out a bit west and north. GSMNP, and Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, if you're so inclined, aren't much of a drive.

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge just might end up on my radar... I don't want to give away too many spoilers. 😁😁😁

Don’t think you’d survive long as a farmer 😂. You are a sheep 🐑 whisperer though.

Yeah, I don't think I'd do too well on the farm. I thought I was communicating pretty well with the sheep though! The chickens didn't give me the time of day.
