@Whatisthescore I was at Berklee from 2003 to 2007. I wasnt one of the best players there but I do agree, there are quite a lot of crap players there too. But what I learnt most from being at Berklee was that music was about networking. Meeting musicians of all levels and genres and learning from each other. I don't even really care if the school treated me fairly. I went there to learn from people, not from the school.

@ub3rpirate it called playing everything, in just the right doses, ever done on jazz piano, latin, swing, bop, funk. i think you could call it "backbeat" or "hip-hop" influenced jazz piano. bop chops, bill evans/herbie hancock voicings,funklatingospel grooves all mixed up (nicely). if you like this you'll find the main (well known) exponent to be jacky terrasson. his blue note album "jacky terrasson" has some backbeat track, not slow, like this, but great originals, a few standards.
