It didn't matter that they got the cars wrong. It was Tyler's perception of the 70s, not the actual 70s because he was in a coma. So he was bound to get some things wrong. I speak from experience. Comas are crazy.

Ah, you're kidding me. This was 12 years ago. I owned a Cortina 2000 GXL K reg in 1977 and it had a vinyl roof. It was in Electric Blue and it was great for pulling. I loved that car but watched it slowly rust around me by 1980 when I got rid. 2009 wasn't that just after the crash that we are still suffering from as well as this deadly disease. Good times!

my 1973 1.6 L had a vinyl roof from the factory, they could be ordered as mine was and its on the orig receipt

The Mk3 Ford Cortina was launched in late 1970 replacing both the Mk2 Cortina and Corsair. The top of range model was the 2000GXL, and like the GT were the only models with twin headlamps, (cheaper models had single headlamps). In 1973 there was a facelift and all models now had square headlamps except the base model that remained with round lights), and the 2000GXL became the 2000E. The metallic bronze Life on Mars car has the registration KJM212K, so that would be 1971/72, but has 2000E badges with the earlier twin headlamp front.

The GXL DID have a vinyl roof Jeremy. You don't know as much as you think. So did The 2000E and the 2000GT. Also the GXL had 'Rostyles' and NOT 'Ford Sports rims' as the LOM Cortina had which added to the fact that it was a 2000E. Let's not get onto the dashboard!

both as good as each other but ashes to ashes actually explain gene and his world hecreated sending all dead coppers whereas in life and mars you see sam struggle but then he comes to accept the world he lived in then as you know dies by jumping off a roof

Much more softly spoken and reserved out of character Gene, yet he is legendary and hot. Clarkson would make a brilliant footloose cop - equal to Glensiter if he were to be cast for a same or shared role in Ashes to Ashes. The offensive charm should never have rolled over and died, I feel more threatened by feminism than the liberal spool of comical lad rants of the past.
