Bei dem Schneefall noch Wasser spühen, die Staubentwicklung ist durch das "Wasser" von oben doch ziemlich effektiv eingedämmt. In meinen Augen Wasserverschwendung.

Some of those roof beams must be thirty or forty feet long. Do they save old timbers like that. You can't get new ones of that quality.

Loke at the ends of the exposed walls. They get thinner as you go up. A sure sign that the building was not built with steel reinforcement.

Well, that building seems to be at least 90 years old. Brick walls and wooden ceilings were used in most buldings up to the 40s, at least in Germany. The wide use of reinforced conrete for walls only began after WWII.

@@peon9282 Yes, you are right. I was just making the point that before steel reinforced buildings the walls got thicker the lower you were. There was a limit on how high you could build. I understand that there were tenements during ancient Roman times that were as much as 8 stories high. The walls had to be thick enough to support everything above them. Unlike today the appartments on the lower floors cost more than the ones on the upper floors. No elevators.

These old buildings must come down. Their concrete has long ago turned to dust and it is only the plaster that holds it in place, They must be incredibly danger- ous to occupy them. The jaws of death barely touch them and they collapse like a building made of sand.
