-- Thank you, Dr. Igor for a review. One more question - ASA also called "odorless" ABS, is that true that it smelled less? P.S. On a Qidi website I looked at TDS(Technical Data Sheet in PDF) - and beside printing temperature it showed that some materials are have to be "cured" in 80-100 degrees temperature for 6-8 hours to improve strength of final product. Do you have an active heating chamber in your 3D printer to test it out?
@MyTechFun16 күн бұрын
@RussianThunderrr maybe it's drying.
@RussianThunderrr15 күн бұрын
@@MyTechFun -- It is defiantly not drying. That process called "annealing" and it is usually used to relief internal stress in metals after part been formed, so same process here - glass or carbon fiber acts as a frame, and the plastic is used to bond that frame together. Not all plastics in TDS are recommended to anneal after printing, but most of the composite plastics are recommended to post print "stress relief"(aka annealing), so it is a separate process to drying filament before printing, which is recommended almost on all filaments.

I ordered some Siraya Tech 85A TPU and the initial prints were excellent. 85A seems to be the sweet spot for low durometer impact absorption versus printability. The Siraya Tech TPU was a matte black and looks much better than the Chinese supplied 95A TPU we're currently using for our products. I should have a new printer in production this week so I can hopefully convert the products to Siraya TPU.

I was very happy to see Siraya Tech making filament for FDM printers. I've used their resins almost exclusively for MSLA printing with very good results. I make functional parts so I'm very interested in material properties and this video not only did some good testing, it also provided the data in very clear graphs that are easy to read. I particularly liked the overlaid images showing the test parts with layer orientation and applied forces. Our business has converted all but one product to 3D printing. We print almost entirely TPU so I was eager to test the TPU from Siraya Tech. I didn't qualify it for production but was impressed with the quality of the filament (not a surprise given that it's Siraya Tech) and the nice matte black finish that looks much better than the shinier black from the 95A TPU we've been getting from China. Our Chinese supplier has been slipping in quality, with occasional lower diameter filament that causes clogs and some light colored flecks of contaminates that could cause clogs but have mainly been a problem with visual defects in the printed parts. We just invested in new machines to print TPU so I delayed the Siraya Tech TPU qualifications until the new printers are in production this week. There is no point in qualifying the new material on the old machines. After that, I'll be developing a new line of products. Some need a stiff springy material for thin walled compliant parts and some need high compression strength with TPU ends for impact resistance. I hope to use PETG or PET-CF for the compliant parts and for the structural portion of the compressive parts with TPU printed in place on the part using a separate extruder, so I'm looking forward to your future Siraya Tech videos. I subscribed. I contacted Siraya Tech a couple of years ago to inquire about ordering resin directly from them but they weren't interested in large orders and told me to purchase through their established retail distribution network. Hopefully they will now be willing to sell filament directly with quantity discounts to manufacturers.

From my experience ASA is best when its pure. I printed about 100kg+ of BASF ASA for a technical light fixture part for a client. And it performed better then ABS, very strong, very stable. But it has to be printed in an enclosed printer for best layer adhesion. All variants of ASA I have tried with any additives performed worse or not better then pure ASA. Also its better when printed a bit slower then ASB, since it has a bit slower chemical reaction time then ASB which is very reactive.

I use lots of the ASA-CF for minibike parts, battery enclosures, control panels. Love it. Easy to print, low warp, strong, great texture. Now the PPA-CF is like from another planet… it is unbreakable… and has a very rigid - almost metallic ring to it. Takes a little more dialing in to print well, but crazy impressive.

Love the content, but what I want to see Is PPA-CF vs. PPS-CF vs Z Polymers Tullomer. The Z Polymers is advertise as being a replacement for aluminum, steel, magnesium, PEEK, PEKK, PAEK, ULTEM, Nylon CF But it's printable on the QIDI with the 350C and 370C but can also be printed on the bamboo labs with the enclosed chambers but with less strength.

I also watched the video about the PET-CF. Can't wait to see the results of PAHT-CF! The PET-CF even compares quite good to PA-CF filaments in the spreadsheet. I planned to try PA6 Low Warp CF15S from Spectrum, as i need to order there in the nearer future because of an other speciality filament. It seems to have a good balance between rigidity an price. And also the fabrication in europe is a selling point. But after having seen the PET-CF results i strongly consider buying it and maybe also the PAHT-CF.

One thing I would like to see is the difference with the ABS GF is the comparison with 10% - 25% GF variants. Would be good to understand if more glass fibres equals more brittle or does it improve the strength. Or is it all just marketing? Some manufacturers don’t specify but some do and charge around 50% more for the 25% GF.
@23071976ful14 күн бұрын
Very interesting and useful information. It would be good to add Shore D hardness to the testing. For an accurate test with a durometer, you need to print samples on a clutch coating and use this lower smooth surface for testing. Hardness is an interesting parameter. For example, wear resistance and scratch resistance of the surface depend on it.
@MyTechFun14 күн бұрын
OK, I can test it in next videos. But just a small reminder, this is correct in mechanical engineering (for metals). But my experience that wear resistancy and hardness is not always in correlation. In my wearing test the TPU is the most wear resistant material, but it has smaller hardness from ABS, PC.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJiQd5Z5p7ulkLssi=S7kMHECiF668Gr0E

Is engineering plate with glue that popular? I would guess more people would run lower maintenance option such as textured PEI, almost never use glue. More often than not I need to adjust Z offset to make it squish more closely onto the plate though.

I'm using 3D printing for small scale manufacturing so I spend more time optimizing for manufacturing, and that definitely includes the correct print surface, bed temperature and part orientation so I don't need to use messy and time consuming glue or hairspray.
