What are the cannons used for the gun salute?
@ScuffedEngineer9 жыл бұрын
Minecraft Markeister The custom stems from naval tradition, where a warship would fire its cannons harmlessly out to sea, until all ammunition was spent, to show that it was disarmed, signifying the lack of hostile intent. As naval customs evolved, 21 guns came to be fired for heads of state, or in exceptional circumstances for head of government, with the number decreasing with the rank of the recipient of the honor.

+Shadow Thanks for that info!!! But I'm still curious on what model are the cannons used in the Malacañan Palace. They seem to be different from other cannons used for salutes...
@ScuffedEngineer9 жыл бұрын
Minecraft Markeister I think that people use whatever is available to them so the variance of cannons used can be very wide.
@markeister15609 жыл бұрын
They seem to be purpose-built ceremonial cannons... They also seem to be traditional gunpowder breechloaders. I wish I could go there and see the actual cannons :D
@ScuffedEngineer9 жыл бұрын
Minecraft Markeister They are the traditional style and most cannons of the type you only use black powder. Other countries will also have different cannons than the US probably because of budget reasons.

Instead of Obama going to all the other stupid countrys he needs to worry about this one first
@San47di9 жыл бұрын
Every Country needs "Allies," including the United States. We live in a "global" economy. No One Country can stand Alone. Therefore visiting our Allies is Never stupid as we ALL need something from one another. The Philippines are the most "Pro-American" country in the world, and we have an increased strategic Military presence there. We are their largest foreign investors, and the Philippines ranks as the 26th-largest export market and the 30th-largest supplier of the United States. Key exports to the U.S. are semiconductor devices and computer peripherals, automobile parts, electric machinery, textiles and garments, wheat and animal feeds, and coconut oil. In addition to other goods, the Philippines imports raw and semi-processed materials for the manufacture of semiconductors, electronics and electrical machinery, transport equipment, and cereals and cereal preparations. So President Obama's visit there IS in continued support of "our" Country.
