My only problem with Absolute Batman is that every time I hear Snyder's name I have war flashbacks, sometimes are Death Metal, and sometimes are DCEU

I get it, but this is a different Scott Snyder I think. More focused and free.

I mean he also wrote New 52 Batman though. Probably Top 2-3 Batman runs in history.

I loved the issue and loved the art too. I think of it as a one shot that’s within continuity. Love the ideas of the trial and error this Batman went through and it’s messy but that’s intentional. And I really think the art matches this theme. This truly shows how art is subjective because of how polarizing this issue has been. I fall into the camp of thinking this art is fantastic. In my opinion this was a 9/10 with my only knock being that I just want to see more of this year one Batman story in this style. It’s a different interpretation for sure. And I actually want to see even more wild takes and interpretations of Absolute Batman in this series.

I loved this issue, I was worried about the break by Drogotta. I enjoyed the Walta style once I read this issue as an origin story. My interpretation/emotional response from the art style made me look closer. The decisions made on this issue satisfied my curiosity and made me think about this as a whole art piece connecting to issue #1 and past Batmen. I loved the Batsuit reveal, it was a strong finish for me.

When I got to that page in dark patterns where the page and panels take the shape of Batman’s head I read the page, got to the bottom and realized what was going on design wise and I audibly said to myself “this is insane”, Sherman is a top tier artist

Yeah Sherman is doing a lot of things you just don't see too often in the big 2. Very inventive.

Really fun episode as always.I loved X of Swords but I'm from Florida so take my opinion with a grain of salt 😂. Also KFC here always runs out of food and went downhill after getting rid of Popcorn Chicken.

Lol I was just kidding about X of Swords, to each their own. See I don’t get that; how does the chicken spot run out of chicken?!

kinda disagree with the assessment on Magik. While I do agree that the inciting incident was very similar to other solos among the X-men, I thought it pretty quickly pivoted to distinguish itself. Like you guys spent no time discussing the magic gunslinger or his goal to resurrect a demonic overlord and how Magik is also part of an apocalyptic prophecy. Which made up the entire back half of the issue. Psylocke and Wolverine(Laura) ended with "Somebody's targeting mutant kids." Magik ended with "Magik might turn the world into an ocean of blood."

About Magik#1 - think you too soon to judge. I mean from what i know it would be at least 10 issues series. So why do you expect everything to happen in 1-st issue? I mean it obvious - you need a set up episode for such kind of story and this set up does not need to be "revolutionary"
@TheComicsPals22 күн бұрын
I disagree! It’s not that I want everything to happen, I just wanted it to express a style vibe and voice that was compelling out of the gate. There are many, many stories that do that, and by comparison this just felt very straightforward. It’s not so much about what happened as it is about how it happened. It just felt plain.

That being said, I’m happy you enjoyed it! It just wasn’t my thing

Uncanny was absolutely terrible. Some fun character moments among the side characters, but a boring story and terrible writing for Rogue and Cyclops, and in the end the whole thing was pointless. Magik was great. The art was great, the dark horror tone was well done, it set up her inner struggles really well, and the action scene and new villain were really cool. At the very least it's way better than Uncanny #8 was in every possible way.

I hear you on your frustrations with Uncanny. I think the book has been good but I don't think forcing this event did it any favors. I do believe it'll bounce back going forward though.

I thought the cover of uncanny 8 was holocaust, very meh, nothing happened besides them rescuing horse girl

First 2-3 issues of crossover were nice, but writing of this one was awful and they did Rogue dirty
