Ignore all the negative comments . Don't let them get you down. Lots of jealous people out there who would love to be doing what you're doing but simply aren't brave enough to put themselves out there like you do. Undeniably, however, Gareth's timid scores this season do not justify his skill level. Hope he gets back to form, but sometimes, ig we have to let go and not overthink. Had one such phase where I registered 5 ducks in 5 months. My avg plummeted down (cricheroes stats), and my teammates in the league (Russell Mania) were disappointed, but they hadn't said anything to me. Eventually, I got some biting comments from some of my teammates and even the opponents. It was just abt letting go, tho. Before, I was afraid of getting out quickly, essentially on a duck. Then, it was just abt playing my game with freedom. That led me to decent scores in the next lot of matches. Got 107(52), 15(13), 29(30), 24 (11) not out, 13(22) (poor batting, yeah, in a 20 overs match), 96(42), 75(45), 72(56), 47(22) not out, 55(40) and 1(3). Hope Gareth has a great next season ahead.

I watch a lot of your videos Gareth, and they are very enjoyable. If I may say a few words, I hope they can be a help. A couple of things, first and most importantly ignore all of the sports psychology bullshit, it's not needed and not helpful, and is 99% rubbish. The 1% is positive mindset, but this should be applied to life if possible and not just to cricket. I coached kids for years, and it was a simple job and never got boring. Kids are usually positive and energetic and the standard of their ability never mattered to me. Treat them as well as possible and they all find a spot in a team. Different people have different abilities and in team sport everybody is useful. I noticed 2 things that stand out about you. The first is that you stand still and deadbat too many balls. This indicates a very correct technique, and that is a great starting point. Perhaps look to be positive in foot movement and pick the gaps if possible. The bowlers are not quick enough to cause problems, but in the case of the faster ones, you can use their pace and create angles to pick gaps. Against spin, I got bogged down a lot as a player and either slogged boundaries or blocked. You are a better batsman then me, and if you can pick them, there are loads of singles available, also at that level, you will get a few rubbish balls which are freebies. Just hit them, as hard as possible and don't attempt to keep them down. Just make sure to make contact, you have enough power to clear the ropes. The ability is there, you just need a clear plan. Keep practicing also, because cricket is a game of practice and repetition. Pick the length as quickly as possible and play accordingly. But try to tick the scoreboard as much as you can, because that relives the pressure. Also ask yourself what you are afraid of failing at? Lots of people tell lies to make themselves seem either more interesting or successful. You don't, and that's a huge positive. Regards, and I hope all is well. There are lots of people worse off than us, and you have all the ingredients, just bake the cake. Best of luck for the future. Go back to basics if you need to also, start with your grip and pick up of the bat. Try to remember the things that have brought you success in the past.

What I noticed over the season, after you’ve hit a four, you seem to play back the next few balls rather than trying to get off strike. Getting 1s and 2s consistently is far better than getting the odd 4, then just playing the next few balls back. When I played, I always tried to get off strike after hitting the previous ball for 4 or 6, unless the next ball obviously wanted hitting as well.

Turned blind at the end there, cardinal sin. Other one looked out as well though lol - That on drive was a sign of a pressure release shot you need to add into the repertoire the top of your innings over the off season. Especially to the straighter deliveries where you get caught leaning over your front pad a little bit too much. Work on your footwork and get them moving in the off season.

Put this season behind you. We've all had stinkers (I've had a couple when runs and wickets just didn't happen). But one season I followed a dreadful time by coming top of the league bowling averages and third in the batting averages in the next season. Just believe.
