there are two amazing remakes of this song. the original was a pop song. Disturbed did an awesome cover, but it was aggressive and angry. I think that Pentatonix captured the true essence of the lyrics. another time where the Penatonix version clearly demonstrates the horror of lyrics is in Mad World, much better than the original or any cover I have seen

If you want PTX but not music videos, many reactors/fans often react to their performances on the Sing Off which is how they got started. Also one of the thing I always love to watch is Superfruit (Scott and Mitch from PTX). Superfruit started as a vlog, but they eventually released music (Future Friends double album). Whenever I want a laugh I watch Superfruit, such as ‘Hip Hop goes Broadway’.

Simon and Garfunkel were almost recorded by accident. They did a take, but it was rejected by the record label, and both individuals went their own way. Garfunkel in college. An advisor for the label redid the instrumentals, which was all that was needed for a smashing hit.

If no one else mentions it, you should check out the Disturbed version as well. I prefer the live cut, but they also have a studio version Very different than PTX, but exceptional. I checked your page, and I see you haven't reacted to Voctave. Another A Cappella group (usually with 11 members), they are also exceptional. They do lots of Christmas stuff, and are well known for Disney covers and medleys. I think ALL of your fans will enjoy "O Come, All Ye Faithful." Truly an outstanding Christmas classic that will blow your mind. If you think PTX, VoicePlay and Home Free have "full harmonies," just you wait. Great reaction to a PTX CLASSIC!!

Forestella! A South Korean crossover group who is stunningly fantastic! They are not acapella, although there are sections. The group is comprised of Cho Mingyu/operatically trained tenor and the director of the group. Then there is Ko Woorim, a basso profundo with a pretty fantastic range. He is also operatically trained and the youngest of the group...just turning 29..and has just entered the Army for his required military stint. Next is Bae Doohoon, a musical theatre trained baritone with another incredible range! He has returned to musical theatre as Mark in Rent after a 20 year break. And he is the oldest. Last is an absolutely unbelievable singer with no professional training...Kang Hyungho. He is a counter tenor with a range similar to Mitch. :) He also performs under the name PITTA. These guys cover (or compose) everything from Bad Romance (Yup, you read that right) to very formal songs in every language you could possible think of!! These two groups are just about all I listen to now. :) Such talent!! And, such truly wonderful personalities! They really care for each other and you see it in their performances. I love the unique twists they put into the same covers like Bohemian Rhapsody and Sound of Silence...especially the harmonies Pentatonix put in Sound of Silence. Forestella has 2 new songs that were written and produced by them! SNOW GLOBE AND CHAGELL'S DREAM. They're pretty impressive! Go listen, I really think you'll enjoy! Be prepared for goosebumps!

Lovely reaction, well done. Sounds like you have a bit of familiarity with the band (big props for getting Kirstie’s name right) and I’m right there with you in admiring them and their music. They have recently released a live version of their cover of Kiss From A Rose that will blow your socks off. The video is from VEVO Studio, so the quality is top notch. Hey Ginger. Hi from Australia. Just found your channel. Great reaction and nice commentary. PTX are amazing, as is Home Free. Seems we are a similar age, so I would suggest (and you will attract the Aussie mob) bluegrass singer, Kasey Chamber's, cover of Eminem's Lose Yourself. (Just type that description into YT and it will pop up.) You do not have to enjoy rap or country to be blown away by this amazing performance. Please, before the Pentaholics find you... and as you're new to PTX... There is no "THE" before Pentatonix. Just found you, and sounds like you might be my age? An Old GenXer (1966 here.) I love Simon and Garfunkel... but my understanding of the song is more intricate... I think the Duo was speaking about how Commercialization of American Culture was becoming in the 60s... when we older GenXers grew up "community and neighbors" cared for one another, and now there is very little of that feeling... and became more "keeping up with the Jones' "... the Commercialization of American Culture. But i guess its all up to interpretation. Ok my interpretation aside... PTX made it possible for the other popular acapella groups to become popular... 3 grammies and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2022. The band (what they call themselves) is amazing, and Kevin the Beatboxer is my favorite!!! 2022 on their Christmas Tour... Scott explains how they found Kevin for "The Sing-Off"... and gives Kevin the stage to show off his talent. Kevin invented "Cello-Boxing"... and his talent is unfathomable. KZbin "Kevin's 5th". Find the 17+ minute video... so worth your time! Subbed for more PTX!!! They just dropped a bew Christmas album... they OWN Christmas!

Check out the Harp Twins, identical twins who play Heavy Metal, etc. on electric harps. They also write original pieces, singing in some. Also look at a few videos of the Volfgang Twins whose videos are Viking and Germanic in theme. They play drums, tagalharpas (instruments made by them.) 🤗

thanks to Simon & Garfunkel for writing this classic over 50 years ago, making it possible for Disturbed, Pentatonix and others to re-interpret the message....that society was becoming de-personalized, withdrawn and accepting of "silence" to the realities of the world........Mitch (the 2nd vocalist) is a true counter-tenor and sings some notes higher than Kirstie in this song.....listen closely..........

Had stepped away from PTX a while back. Revisiting, am reminded of qualities which I frequently find with their 'productions'... drama and theatrics. Sometimes I enjoy it, other times there's an intensity which can feel a bit overwhelming. I think this was one of the first videos with Matt, after Avi's departure. If you're open to another version of the song, which couldn't be more different: The Hound and The Fox featuring Chance from Home Free. Ideas for other reactions. Some of the skits from 'The Carol Burnett Show.' You may have watched it, waaaay back in the day. Great if you're looking for something which is certain to have you laughing and doesn't need a deep, critical analysis. Another might be 'All in the Family' episodes. Recently watched a reaction by a very young person who was beyond stunned (mouth agape) at what Carroll O'Connor's character was able to say on air. The politics of that time, how some of their issues continue to today and the adversarial dynamic between 'Meathead' and Archie. Edith's role beyond how she's first perceived. And how shows from that era compare with current comedies. Always enjoy your reactions. 😊

In so ways we're more "Conservative"... we want to truly Conserve our Democracy and Planet...
