Absolutely Shocking!! Another Name and Shame

I have seen some bad houses but this was totally unacceptable, if this is how Countryside Homes hand their houses to their customers they should be ashamed. The house was filthy, it needed redecorating and should not have been signed off. What are the site team and the NHBC playing at, it is obvious Countryside don't have any quality checks in place or any senior manager walking the plots before they are handed over.
It was Embarasing walking this plot.

Absolutely atrocious workmanship, The site agent clearly has not stepped inside this house ever. The Site Manager deserves to be sacked for allowing this work and the so-called contractors who did the work named and shamed. Someone out there will know the cowboys who did this. This homeowner deserves to get a large paycheque from the developer for all the trauma this will cause. It is beyond time for the UK Government to make mandatory requirements for new builds and that would be for solicitors acting on behalf of purchasers to retain 25% of purchase prices in a client fund until all works are completed to satisfactory condition. If they fail to deliver what was promised, forfeit the 25%.

The home owner should take Countryside to court and sue the pants off them. This house IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!! A tin of paint won't put this house right. Remember the first commandment. HOW YOU DO ANYTHING IS HOW YOU DO EVERYTHING! I think this is the worst one yet Ian. Total embarrassment (or not ) for Countryside. Do they even care?

Hi Jim, I was embarrassed for the customer and angry that this house had been signed off and handed to the customer. This just shows the greed within the industry and the attitude of getting them up, getting them in and we will sort it out afterward. I agree this one was not fit for purpose and should not have been handed over.

i have never heard that quote before, but you are right. It is shocking. You do not need to be a professional to spot the snags on that build. If you can call it a build. Any tradesman worth his skills would have refused to associate himself working on that. Someone must have started the bodge.

Surely it's about time laws were changed! Tou should be able to leave a deposit! On handover if tou are not satisfied get a full refund ! I do appreciate thoe it's as easy as that!

Countryside houses are not normally presented like this one, and I think it was a year-end plot, that is no excuse and some of the blame must go to the contracts and sales managers who have clearly not set foot in this house before the handover.

Why would they care when they have the money? They know trying to get things resolved is stupidly difficult and I suspect they hope to wear down the complaints by ignoring them or giving them the runaround until the new owner fixes things themselves out of desperation.

What do people expect from new builds. All the work is on price per job. The work is rushed and often not done by seasoned pros. That why good joiner/plumbers/sparks are 250-400per day because theyre good

I get it, sales drive build programmes when someone reserves a plot and CML deadlines are given, but come on that was never going to be acceptable to anyone..

Mark, I think they sleep well, no one cares anymore, what was disappointing for me was the site manager should have been at this house Monday morning with cleaners and a decorator and a whole load of apologies. Both the site manager and assistant site manager walked past the house a number of times whilst I was there with the customer and never made any attempt to knock on the door.

I paint new house's and always do a gd job, problem is other trade's don't give a sh#t. We get told to paint it and sort snagging after, yeah when they've got the money. All builder's are the same, greed,greed,greed.

There's not that many people view your videos in relation to those buying a new house. I think it would be worth naming the builder in every video title. That way prospective buyers would have a chance to search KZbin and it would give them a chance to find what their new home builders are capable of.

HI Paul, No we don't snag before handover, we can carry out a pre-completion check, but this is only a visual inspection and we can't use any aids or refer to building regulations or warranty provider's standards during this inspection.

26/12 22, Looks like this has been the Site's Mess Rooms. Sites sometimes use a house as their site office, canteen, toilet & shelter for all site workers instead of using temporary Portakabin types of buildings. Those stairs are a strong clue. Unfortunately the Developer's main priority, especially Volume Builders, is their share price not their Purchaser's Welfare. A 'Completion' will be a Financial Completion adding to their Financial Target & ultimate Share Value. This is where the monies, the sale price, is now in their bank account. Alas, there's now little incentive to achieve & provide a Satisfactory Finished Job. If a mortgage is involved the Mortgagor's Surveyor may have performed a Final Survey authorising release of funds to the Builder & overlooked the disgraceful condition on the basis that these 'Snags' are not Structural Defects.The Mortgagor may have their own targets where this 'completion' has now added towards any target they may have too & any mortgage repayments will now add to their revenue stream. Morally the Developer is in Breach of Contract. Good Ethics = Good Business. Shame them into providing The Goods at a Satisfactory Level of Quality ! Anyone contemplating buying a New Home should be prepared for the high stress levels that, as this vid' shows, can ensue. Generally there are No Bad Troops - only Bad Generals. Good Luck to the Purchaser - who's also a Customer !
