Well everyone knows the questions are read off cue cards, this goes back to 1980. Watching 1983 episodes recently, I noticed Bob Monkhouse used to be looking at cue cards even when he had to announce the hidden prize the contestants had won. As for 'our survey says' - that's a classic catchphrase that's part of the show, delivered in Vernon's "own" style. OK he's not Les Dennis, but Les isn't Vernon either.

If you think this is good, you should try and find the American version which started it all, Family Feud. The host of the original version was British, Richard Dawson. He hosted it from 1976-1985 and 1994-1995. There are a good number of episodes posted on KZbin, including the first and last episodes from 1976 and 1985 respectively.
