Hey man, I'd think with the amount of math you know, if you put in some extra work in research; you can enter grad school in MIT or Princeton. Considering you are a first year. Just out of curiosity, have you got such plans?

Planning on doing a masters after undergrad, and hopefully a PhD afterwards (if I end up going down the research route).

Sorry for the beginner question but what age group are kids introduced to this concept?

Whenever they learn long division. In US I believe that is about 4th grade (~12 yrs old). They likely do not see a proof like this until a proof-based undergrad class.

@@liambaldwin6823 Thanks for the reply, Liam. The phrase 'the division algorithm' came up in a meeting about what a 10yr old would be expecting to learn the following year in math class. I study with him, but was not familiar with what was expected of today's kids. It's safe to say, after googling what it was, I assumed far too much, but he is a bright kid & he ended up learning the very basics of that proof. I appreciate the clarity, Liam. All the best from OZ, Ben
