Hi Michelle, In the early stages when I'm dividing the canvas I use fluid paints, as I get into details I use alot of the normal density paints but do at times soften them with medium. Im so happy you liked the DVD , thanks again...MIX

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you're saying. I could tell that your finishing touches seemed to be with more opaque paint (highlights, working up the foreground, etc). Thanks again for sharing. You are an inspiration! Hold on to that passion - it is evident that you totally enjoy what you do.

Hi Michael! I just bought your video. Thank you for the tips. The canvases I plan to paint on are smaller than yours and therefore the brushes need to be smaller. I have yet to invest in the brushes which I am now ready to do. My canvasses are 2 foot by 4 foot. Please suggest a "range" of sizes suitable for this size canvas. Thank you (Anybody else with suggestions? Please jump in)

Hi. Did we ever meet? I am Bitish and used to live in upstate New York. I lived outside of Rochester at a town called Pittsford. I used to be a semi-pro artist and did the local art events such as Cornhill or Fairport canal days to name only a few. I met a lot of artists during my time there. I have recently found your art on youtube and love it..

Michael, I sit and watch you almost everyday. It is incredible, the way you blend your colors and make something very cool out of a blank canvas. You truly are a Master in your field! I am an abstract artist as well with a much different technique but watching you makes me want to try this. :) Question - Do you have a plan in mind before you start or does it " just happen" ? You are truly amazing. Thanks so much for sharing .

Your work is amazing! Thank you for giving us a glimpse into your process! I love it when artists are willing to share. So often I see the end result of a painting and never know how an artist arrived there. I'm still struggling to find a style and oftentimes find myself frustrated. What is the thickness of your canvas and what brand do you use? Or do you stretch your own? Also what are the brushes you use? Thank you for your talent!

Hi Michael, I absolutely love your art and your passion for it. Question - do you prepare the canvas in any way before applying paint? I read in one of your previous comments that you apply matte medium. Do you apply that alone (without color) first (to the dry "out of the wrapper" canvas)? And the medium is still wet when you begin to add color? I did purchase your DVD (and loved it!), but I was unclear as to how/if you prepared the canvas. Thank you!!
@MichelleJosephLongFineArt11 жыл бұрын
I need to just give that a try. I always feel like I have to have some idea of what I want to paint. Perhaps just painting whatever comes out of just painting will help me to loosen up a bit when I paint. I know that when I created my golden fields piece it was using loose, blended strokes and I loved working on that painting. It is my favorite of any I've done and reserved for my personal collection. ;-)
