I am sooooo glad to have found your channel. I’ve been an artist for years..clay, glass and copper but can no longer use my hands to do those things b/c of medical issues. I despaired of ever finding an art medium that I could do until I started learning about abstracts. For whatever reason I never really resonated with paintings much at all until now. I guess I was too locked into the 3D tactile art forms and wasn’t ready until now. Your videos have been WONDERFUL teaching tools for me to refine my intuitive process into an actual painting style. Thanks Cat. I use the color wheel to have cohesive color in my paintings. I don’t have specific videos on my channel but I do in my online courses - like All About Color. There is. Colors are one part of a developing “balance” in a painting asa well as shapes, values, lines, edges, etc. Sometimes balance isn’t wanted in a composition.

I don’t do either one. I don’t use black at all. I either use a dark value color out of the jar, or I make a color darker by adding it’s complement. I have probably two dozen or more videos that show my entire painting process - you might want to watch some of those.
