Thanks once again MIX. You're by far the best, on UTube. The latest video productions keep getting better. Bringing your palette into the shot has really added to the overall experience you bring and teach us. Shudder was intense, but my favorite by far is still Xanadu. WE WANT SPACE MONSTERS! Please paint one from that series. When you start with the wet canvas are you using straight water or your 25% medium to water mix?

Awesome, as usual, Michael! If I could just learn to fade and shadow the way you do I would be content. One question, how do you keep your brushes so clean? Do you use something special to clean them with?
@MichaelLangArt10 жыл бұрын
Glad you like! I'm always rinsing my brushes in water to keep them clean during a painting, in between colors etc.When I'm done for the day I dip them into fabric softener ( which keeps them soft for the nice blending) and close them in a plastic container. I never let them dry.I have brushes that Ive had for many years and have never been dry.This also applies to oil painting.Hope this helps, Enjoy!

great work!!!!!!.... and a question...... can i use water instead of "acrylic medium" to keep my paint workale for long time...??? any sugestions on that.................
@MichaelLangArt9 жыл бұрын
Hi, No! I would refrain from using water unless you are trying some special affects. Medium is made from the same material as the acrylic paint so its very compatible. Water however breaks down the paint leaving a dead and lifeless stain. It would be like thinning oil paint with gasoline. Hopr this helps...MIX

micheal, a question regarding your technique of doing color gradients resp. your washing do you use gesso (or a similar product) before you start painting? if yes, how long do you let it dry? and could you let me know if the acrylic colors you apply are waterly and if the 2nd brush you use for bluring is just a dry brush of if something is on it ? thanks for any infos and best regards from austria
@MichaelLangArt10 жыл бұрын
Hi Kati, No Gesso. I purchase most of my canvas primed. I do use gesso once in a while for the purpose of texture.I do thin my paint at times with a medium depending on the purpose.Both my brushes are wet with medium at all times. I don't use a dry brush unless I am looking for a dry brush drag on the paint application.Enjoy...MIX

Michael, I need to ask you a very basic question: When I'm through painting, no matter how thoroughly I wash the paint out of my brushes with water, when they dry they are still hard and gummy feeling. What am I doing wrong?
@MichaelLangArt8 жыл бұрын
there are some really good brush cleaners available that when your brush is dry and hard and gummy a quick rinse and they will be soft again and ready to go. I very seldom let a brush dry, I put it in an air tight container and it will stay wet for your next use. Also dipping them in fabric softener and rinsing will keep them nice.Enjoy...MIX

Are you using acrylic or oil here? And if you are using acrylic, is it possible to use oils to do this or any other cubism work?
@jojo-sf9lt6 жыл бұрын
Just unbelievable to see how, going from some rough lines thrown on a canvas, you end with such an outstanding result ! °.° The tricky thing is, watching you painting with so much ease as if guided by some natural instinct, makes it look SO easy..... What-a-mistake ! ! ! I tried to do something similar and.................. not even close to be close :)) May I ask you which medium you use to create your shadings? That's the hardest part for me! Do you allow the first coat to dry before applying the second colour ? ? That's what I did, using a mix of water, binder and paint.... for an unconvincing result unfortunately. I'm new to painting. If you have a moment - you certainly are very busy - I would be honoured to have your advice on this ! Thank you :)

@Defiant00cfm9 жыл бұрын
Hello, I am new to painting with acrylic, my previous work was all aerosol, I am very impressed with your work, and was inspired by this video. So far my attempts at abstract art looks like slop and not art. I was wondering if you had any advice for me, also I noticed you used two brushes. One applies the color, and the other seems to blend it. Is the second brush wet or dry, and also is there a specific type of brush I should use? Thanks for your time and reading my comment.
