I wish I had seen this before, I applied for a damn job. This is a learned skill, that one can easily master. So I am not sure if this an effective or even a fair way to evaluate one's qualification for a job. Especially if that job requires having soft skills, emotional intelligence and understanding the importance of the intangibles.

​@@LC12345 It's definitely a learned skill but only to a point (given that the test is good), you can raise your score by quite a lot by just understanding the test. But truthfully the issue with these tests are that they really require people to understand how they're done to give an accurate result. It's not a test you should just give to someone out of the blue because they need some training/explanation to score correctly. If you get a score of 90 before training and 110 after then your true score should be 110, going beyond that point upwards to 120, 130 will (I think) be possible by practicing your logical thinking but is much harder. If you look at mensa they advice you to practice before doing their test for this very reason. I think these are good enough tests for some jobs, software devs is probably the best example I can come up with. But it's stupid for eg. a human resources position.

On the example with the dominos, I solved it following a different pattern. I counted all the dots on the upper row (10) and all the dots on the bottom row (13) and I assumed that we must have an equal number of total dots on both the upper and lower rows. If we pick A, then we have 15 on the upper and 15 on the lower rows.

Thank you so much for this. It takes away the anxiety of going through these tests! Answers: D-D-B OR A Now for Q6, I can see how you have B as the 2 diagonal squares are the in the same direction. However, is it possible that "A" is another answer? All the others have white squares in all 3 columns and rows, whereas A doesn't have a white square in the 3rd column. I see two plausible answers for Q6. Thoughts? Question 4 as "No Answer" is troubling since No answer wasn't a choice. I would have chosen D for this as the diagonal lines are in the opposite position patterns. It fits 2 of the criteria. It doesn't fit all by any means. Tough one.

Q4 is very complicated, because if you look at the pattern is move anti clockwise while the straight line is moving clockwise. So if you look at the A everything is correct but the only problem is we are looking for white square with black dot ok. And B too if you check it the pattern movement is not correct that is why none of them is corrected in Q4 ok

Actually, in Q6, at 9:02 there's another pattern where it can be D. the top row has 1 one, 3 twos, and 1 three. the lower row has 1 one, 2 twos and two fours. This means you have equal amount of numbers in each row when the correct answer is D. The open questions are D, D, B

Can you please confirm an answer for Q4? I support what some other people have said in that there's no real answer because parts of A and parts of D are correct. The black circle rotates counter-clockwise along the diagram, meaning the answer should have the black circle at 9 o'clock - the only answer that does is A. The diagonal line rotates clockwise and should be at the top right corner, which it is for both A and D. But the circle in the centre alternates between black on white and white on black, and the answer should have a black circle on white rectangle, which A does not (but D has). I strongly believe there is no correct answer.

Yeah, the three patterns: Alternating center, clockwise diagonal, and counter-clockwise circles don't agree at all. But on a test you can't explain your reasoning, so supposedly one is objectively right, or the test is flawed, but universities, companies, and other institutions still trust these tests. It's crazy to me that this is the standard.

One could say these tests sometimes test for outside the box thinking that remains inside a box... thats the nature of "knowledge" though, it is relative and needs boundaries as trite as they may be.

I went with D. Reason, no one says the circles rotate counter clockwise continuously, maybe after turning 4 times they go backwards four times. So the 5th figure would be the first 'backwards' rotation. The black square with circle in the middle only has two states, soe whether backwards or forwards is the same. And the stick has 4 states, BUT there is no figure of a 'backwards' rotation. Think of a mechanical watch escapment, it doesn't rotate, it turns 360 one way then 360 the next back and forth.

If we were to assume that there is no error with the author's listed options, then that would make options A and D as the more reasonable ones. I'd choose D over A as the most suitable figure to come next in this series. Both options comply with 2 squences in the series; the positions of the diagonal line & the 2-white circle line. However, option D complies with TWO additional squences; the color of the square at the center of the figure and the color of the circle inside it. On the other hand, option A complies with ONLY ONE additional sequence; the right position of the checkered circle.

Thank you Mr. McMunn for this helpful video! I have yet to take a psychometric assessment (Korn Ferry) with a financial company and I'm getting anxiety to say the least. It's bad enough that I have to figure out the logical sequence but it only gives me 45 seconds to a minute to answer each question and there's usually 9 blocks of sequence with 9 blocks of answers to choose from (yikes!)

I think there's a mistake in Question 4. The answer will have to be the combination of A & D. Those who choose the answer D simply ignored the rotation of the two toned ball.

If you ask me A is a better choice, than D, because D is two positions out of sequence on the arms. A only has the error of the inner black box with white circle, but the colors should be white box black circle. Anyway, just my opinion.

Im confused with q4. I think the answer could be A and/or D. Coz for A the sequence follows the pattern of the black circle on the left going down, right, top and then should be on the left again. Same goes with the diagonal line moving clockwise, but the center square doesn’t follow through. However, with D there is a sequence with the diagonal line and the center square but the outside circle and checked circle is not right as well.

I think Q4 isn't right. It can't be A because the square in the middle needs to be white with a black dot. It's not B because the diagonal line is in the wrong place. That only leaves D, but the 4 outer circles are rotating anti-clockwise which would leave them in position shown in A. Hard to learn it when they're not drawn correctly!

@@wanerichy Q4 is right. Just look at it very carefully and many times. I look at it 5 times to understand it, at first look i already knew the answer, just try to understand it very carefully. First box, the line is in NE direction the box in the middle is white and the circle in it is black. Second box, the line is in the SE direction the box in the middle is black and the circle in it is white. Third box, the line is in SW direction, the box in the middle is white, and the circle in it is black. Fourth box, the line is in NW direction, the box in the middle is black, and the circle in it is white. For the circles inside, they are just rotating counter clockwise. ( Top to left side rotation) First box, white, checkered, white, black. Second box, checkered, white, black, white. Third box, white, black, white, checkered. Fourth box, black, white, checkered, white. Explanation for the next series: The line is in the NE direction, the box inside is color white, the circle inside it is color black. If we were to assume that there is no error with the author's listed options, then that would make options A and D as the more reasonable ones. I'd choose D over A as the most suitable figure to come next in this series. Both options comply with 2 squences in the series; the positions of the diagonal line & the 2-white circle line. However, option D complies with TWO additional squences; the color of the square at the center of the figure and the color of the circle inside it. On the other hand, option A complies with ONLY ONE additional sequence; the right position of the checkered circle.
