Ive always wanted to be a spectator. Like how in games, when you die, you go into spectator mode. You don't exist, but you still get to watch and move around wherever you want. Its also like reading a book, you're a spectator to the characters inside. Just tagging along by their side without having to exist and experience the problems. Anyway, I think that's what turned into a real bad habit of daydreaming too often. And now Im too lost in my head and made my life miserable. I need something to nail me down to reality

It's very fortunate that you are aware of your state and able to put it in words because that the only way out of this situation successfully and not succumb into the bad faith or philosophical suicide like the ones who face same desires and feelings(like every human does) but unlike you aren't unable to really understand it and write it clearly thus unable to reason with it and get past of it, they submit entirely. Accepting the faith and saying ls that it all was meant to be this way i.e. philosophical death.

The most freeing philosophy of all. As a truly great man once put, "I don't want to just peer into the abyss, I want to maintain uncomfortable eye contact with it." Knowing that in the end, nothing really matters, we can stop dwelling on the past or worrying on the future, and just enjoy the moment we are in. Whatever that moment may be.

It’s really something beautiful, the way I like to think of it is that because life doesn’t mean anything, that inherently makes « mattering » a human concept, which in turn results in the conclusion that because mattering is a human concept things at a human scale do matter, if only to us and not the cosmos

I'm of the opinion that a lot of people know that life is meaningless, but never actually admit to believing this. Trust me, I was at a house party back in 2009 and I made the colossal blunder of telling all these drunk people that life is meaningless and that nothing they did mattered. Sometimes being the "Cheese Who Stands Alone" is the only way of really standing. We live in a world where most people live in a world of delusion. Why should anyone apologize for speaking truth, just because truth poops their party? Pity the poor human race. They will never find truth, because when they find it, they will drop it like a hot potato, and keep looking for some other truth.

[Quran Chapter 39] In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful. 1. The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Mighty and Wise. 2. We sent down to you the Book with the truth, so serve Allah, devoting your religion to Him. .... 5. He created the heavens and the earth with reason. He wraps the night around the day, and He wraps the day around the night. And He regulates the sun and the moon, each running along a specific course. He is indeed the Almighty, the Forgiver. 6. He created you from one person, then made from it its mate, and brought down livestock for you-eight kinds in pairs. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, in successive formations, in a triple darkness. Such is Allah, your Lord. His is the kingdom. There is no god but He. So what made you deviate? 7. If you disbelieve, Allah is Independent of you, yet He does not approve ingratitude on the part of His servants. And if you are thankful, He will approve that in you. No bearer of burden can bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return; and He will inform you of what you used to do. He is aware of what the hearts contain. ... 41. We sent down upon you the Book for mankind in truth. He who follows guidance does so for the good of his soul. And he who strays in error does so to its detriment. You are not their overseer. ... 42. Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that have not died during their sleep. He retains those for which He has decreed death, and He releases the others until a predetermined time. In that are signs for people who reflect. ... 62. Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is in Charge of all things. ... 67. They have not esteemed Allah as He ought to be esteemed. The entire earth will be in His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right. Immaculate is He, and Transcendent He is beyond the associations they make. ... 69. And the earth will shine with the Light of its Lord; and the Book will be put in place; and the prophets and the witnesses will be brought in; and Judgment will be passed among them equitably, and they will not be wronged. ... www.quranwow.com

Yeah, sure. My thoughts may feel pretty painful. But I think it's kinda cool that I got to know that there was a world a universe, such thing as existence. Who cares how much pain I experience. It doesn't matter. It's all going to go away and I'll have an eternity of peace and silence. So I might as well live this life out, as I am going to have an infinitely long period of silence afterward at some point. And a bit of pain in the middle is certaiy something other than silence, so is a nice change for once. And you know what? I realised that I am an irrational human, just like any other humans, and have actually experienced comfort and joy at some point during my life which is pretty cool since I have no reason to. So that's definitely a nice bonus.

I think absurdism is the ultimate conclusion of nihilism. Eventually you realize, good or bad, stuff juat happens to you and you don't know why. Nihilism's cure, as in, making your own purpose, still doesn't solve the problem of why existence exists, as opposed to not exist. Life, and by extension everything you do in it, is absurd, and ultimately is an act of futility. It's as if we're all playing Gary's mod. Life is meaningless sandbox game. It's ridiculous, so just have as much fun with it as you possible can before its inexorable end. You don't even need to find a purpose. It's not necessary, in all likelyhood, something will happen and it will end that purpose for you.

⚠️ This video came exactly at the time I needed. For the last 10 years I've been thinking about all that, I got into depression when I suspected that may be religions are all wrong, there's no afterlife, and life itself may be meaningless. I got to despair. SoI began reading several philosophers, like Jiddu Krishnamurti and others. But after all the depression, the struggle against the fatality, the known end of the story, I discovered that although I can't change the end of the story, I can build a new one each day. After all, it doesn't matter anyway, if I fail or not. I am free to live if I am in peace with death. I can do anything I want, and do any mistakes and try again and again, and knowing that this could benefit others, gives my life a new meaning. I received a blank paper. It's finite, but I can write the story I want. This simple perception gaves me all the freedom in the world. I'm in peace with myself and with the existence. ❤

It's comforting to stumble across a video that legitimises the feelings I've been having for several years now. Knowing I'm not alone in feeling this way does ease my anxious thoughts. All my conclusions to the absurdities of life point towards living more consciously and presently, but I do struggle with that. There's so many distractions, possibilities, and options in the modern world that it's hard to find the correct path. I end up not choosing at all which of course is a choice in itself and it has made me miserable. This passage especially strikes a chord with me - "...the only problem of existence wasn't its lack of meaning, but rather it's absolutely terrifying level of freedom."

I believe in absurdism, that life is meaningless, and I couldn't be happier. Sometimes having hope, like faith, that there is meaning and overall purpose at the end is too high of an expectation. To lower that expectation, leaves free of dread, free of worry, you may still be afraid of death, but only afraid of death without living enough life. Embracing life, and embracing the absurd is what I strive for. Because we only live once, I'm not wasting a second doing what I hate.

@A.J. I think a meaningless life can only be achieved WITH free will. If nothing matters how can there be one end to every life? The universe, space and time, as we know it is chaotic and ever changing. So I believe, it may be wishful thinking, that we 100% decide our own fates, or the events out of our control do. I don’t think anything is planned. We die freely, we make right and wrong decisions.

There was a house that became so important to me that I looked for it all my life, I seemed to have a link to it. We have been born many times I assure you. Look forward to your next life. @@sallybutton6237 I’m not opposed to that belief at all! I question deja vu all the time how it can feel like a memory from a previous life. I don’t entirely believe that’s possible ofc, but what I think I mean overall is that you have to live THIS life to your fullest. Don’t rely on the possibility of another chance. Because really you DO only have one life… under THIS consciousness. And if you think there are multiple consciouses, then live that absurdist lifestyle to the fullest in all them.

That is absurd and what the Buddhist call the wheel of samsara it is hard to explain to someone who is still in the illusion but if you're here hopefully your breaking free but I rambled a bit what it ultimately means for me is that once you see the truth that most religions and ideology are used as system of control that if you are not you own master someone else will be that once you realize that as camus says you are deprived of a lost home or the hope of a promised land in so far as you now know that utopia is always just one more step one less freedom one more body away as it always was the only difference is that you now see utopia for what it is like the game we happy few when the pill wears off and you see that the pinata that everyone beat and is eating was a live rat but you did not see it until you vision cleared. I think the key is to realise how lucky we are. To contemplate for ourselves, the billions of years of seemingly random physics and chemistry dance that we are partaking at this very moment. You can choose to live through it passively. You can also set the most mundane goals of all. You can set extraordinary life goals. You can even do all of the above at the same time, and change it at will. It doesn’t matter. If you set a goal and get it done. You’ve not only made it better for yourself, you’ve just witnessed “the universe” set a goal for itself and fulfilling it. To me, it’s a calming and quite amusing thought. Especially when I witness it all in real time. It creates purpose out of the void. Again, i cannot tell you, specifically, how to overcome it. Life is meaningless. I don’t say this often, because it makes people upset. Also, I have no intention of changing anyone’s perspective. More than anything, people misinterpret this. I FEEL like things are meaningful. It FEELS like everything is meaningful. It just isn’t. Karma doesn’t exist because if it did, life would be fair. Another thing that angers people. Life being meaningless does not change the way I live. I don’t want any living thing to suffer because of my actions and I live my life in a way that hopefully reduces any way that I could be contributing to suffering. BUT, I don’t do this because I think it’s meaningful.

thank you. Out of all possible topics you could have talked about you chose this one. Lately I was one of those souls who came to the conclusion that life is meaningless. Then, I couldn't really decide my purpose in life, which led to me stoping in my tracks lately. I mean, what's the point of this? While searching for an answer I only found one explanation - it is the first sign of depression. Right then I knew perfectly that it could possibly lead to it but it wasn't now, I was trying helplessly to find another way, another explanation, not to fall into the void. This video was like a bucket of cold water threw on my face for me to realize that to feel that I can't be possibly already drowning. I always thought that people with too much courage are ignorant and dumb. But maybe it's just me who is dumb? It's just that overanalyzing is a way to come to such conclusion? Nenetheless, I find the meaning of life as expressing yourself very meaningfull (how much dumb this wording may seem), I actually posted a comment - that's a first for me, I didn't even bother to check if I made any mistakes in my wording (not a big surprise - I'm not an English native speaker). Maybe I would come to this conclusion myself, but with this video now, I at least didn't waste too much of my priceless time pondering on this. This comment matter as much as any other comment - nothing. thank you - no matter how meaningless it seems :)

If there's nothing giving you joy, nothing makes you excited, you have nothing to look forward to? Every day is mindless routine, spent in loneliness, hopelessness and desperation. "We're all in this together" sure but some people have tons of friends, many partners, regular sex and love, while others have none of it. So even though we might be together in theory, in practice it's not how it works. I'm not a charismatic, social person, I have no social life whatsoever. I have gone through many of the things you have mentioned in this video. It is crazy to me how you have put my thoughts into a simple 15 minute video. At first…I was just a random person looking for answers to the meaning of life. I stumbled across your channel and realized that there is no meaning of life. I considered stoicism and nihilism, but those just didn’t seem right to me. They led me to feeling sad and unhappy with my current state of life. Eventually I came to the realization of a thing called absurdism, but I didn’t know it was called that at the time. I realized that I could do anything. Literally. And realizing that, was freeing to me. I realized that I could make the choices that I wanted, the only thing stopping me was other people. And if things get too hard, it doesn’t even matter, because I’ll have death to catch me when I fall. Coming to terms with the idea of absurdism then let me to thoughts about religion. Because…isn’t it better to be safe than sorry? Now I realize that of course it is, but also that religion is a gamble. There is such a low chance of the religion that I choose to stick with being correct. There is even less of a chance that my afterlife is a good one. Lastly, I realized that everyone in this world has gone through similar situations with me. Everyone in this world is connected some way or another. Biologically, we are more or less the same. We are the human race. We will all die one day. We have all been born or will be born. Out of the 8 billion people in this world, how could I make a difference?

out of 8 billion you really don’t need to impact all 8 billion, thats pretty much impossible a little change is even still a change. cause and effect bro

What if there was only 2 billion people? Do you have a greater chance at affecting change? What change do you want? Why? Does it matter how many people there are if you're truly passionate about change or are you using perceived thoughts of the possible failure to come that you show prior restraint on yourself? So absurd....lol

Recently, most recently, I have started feeling like that, like there's just no meaning in life, there's no ultimate goal in life, I want to use my life for something great but it hasn't been used so far till this point and I have already deleted all the social platforms I have had, I feel why some raise and some never be able to raise, the point seems unanswered, I'm 27 and I have never been this thoughtful in life, probably it's the age. There's no video on KZbin, there's no article that would calm my wandering throughs.

Good and bad are inherently human concepts. Why limit yourself to those ? Even to live in a community, which we need, since we are group animals, we basically just need to communicate and do our own thing peacefully, without hurting others. Good and bad are very subjective adjectives : they depend on time, culture, state of mind, and so on. They move all the time, though humans do have some references towards how they do define those concepts. It would be foolish to use subjective and abstract concepts as unmovable pillars of reference for your entire life. You're here, and you've got a few tools. You have an unknown amount of time before you, and your past gets blurrier every minute. You have time, now you choose what you do with it. :) Edit : typos

I have to agree with the last guy in ther comments. I didn't realize I needed these kinds of videos nor did I think that individual creators would make up the majority of the content I consume and I love that because I always use the "each one teach one" philosophy in life so I feel channels like this one and why files are so important and should be way more popular than alot of these random youtubers creating nonsense videos

I have been watching hours and hours of NDE stories over the past few months. One recurring idea is that we choose the life we are living at the moment, before we are born. A life of struggle and overcoming them holds a greater potential for your soul's growth than one of easy fulfillment like choosing to be a rich rockstar that has everything handed to them. I like the idea, without fully accepting it, its interesting and makes sense. We are all here for our unique perspective, to give it back to the universe after we're done...and this is a choice we made.

This idea is what exactly opposite to the existentialism - This idea is essentialnism preceded by existentialism while existentialism talks about essentialnism as successor of existentialism.

I think the only way to be free from meaninglessness is to kill the Ego before it's fruitless attempt to find meaning kills you or takes any joy that the world has to offer.

but killing our ego is very hard and even if you manage to kill it, you will be an enlightened monk free of all worldly desire, you will have no interest in sex or other normal human pursuits, it's not practical for most people because they will have to give up their family.
