go check out vern's reel repair he's a cool cat, he knows his reels.
he tore the reel down cleaned and lubed it while i waited. filled me with a wealth of knowledge.

Hey there,.. if you loose the mono and replace it with a quality braid and tie it with an FG knot to a 25' mono shock leader ... real smooth knot that will shoot right through your guides with no worries at all....BTW, If you dont backlash every so often,..you're not casting hard enough,... 🤣 but you know what I mean,... at some point , you just got to give it all you got🤣🤣🤣 Keep practicing 🤙😎👍

Absolutely fantastic video I just started using my first casting reel on my last livestream it’s an abu Garcia 5000 made in Swedish I know it’s small but I’m kind of enjoying it all my life I had used spinning reels

Ive had my 7000 syncro for 25 years. great trolling lure, set it on the light drag until they bite then set the hook. Also a great surf casting real, I was thinking that park was a bit small. You would get some real distance if your line didn't have memory in it.

That was the fist time I ever casted it! Now that I have been using it for a while I can sling it a lot farther! It's my first 7000 and I love it! Been trying to find another one!

@@JustinsFishinFetish I bought the Catfish Dave's 12' Okuma Longitude and the Diawa Seagate SGT35H. It cast a 3oz pencil lead on 65lb braid about 87 yards on the 2nd cast without really trying and no backlash. I love Gabby's attitude, it's her rod/reel... LOL!!

Thanks Victor! I hope it will be a super lucky reel! Yes I did catch a nice blue on it but the whole sd card I had in my go pro messed up it says it has 60 gigs used but when I open it it's blank hopping to reel in a monster on it at Santee cooper in march.

Be careful on cover cap at the star drag. It can come off. I lost mine. Does yours have a set of number? Mine says 99 00 05. It's my late dad's reel.
