Im so glad you noticed the screw because it was driving me nuts lol glad you talked me out of this reel though.. not an abu fan to begin with, so the aurora will continue to be my only abu garcia reel, and just as a book end because i dont like the way it fishes lol

Looks nice, I like the color on that Revo Ike. I think Id rather spend money on a Revo LT7 left handed with shallow spool , or a Scorpion BFS xg left handed. I have 1 reel setup for normal heavy stuff for bass. No expensive reels, with deep spools yet. Still don't have any Shimanos, but a Scorpion BFS xg might end up being the first. I would love to someday get the Calcutta conquest BFS hg. Tonight I put hybrid ceramic bearings into one of my xf50s. Fun times!

Ooof. I love Ike and I got to meet him in 05 when I was 6yr but that is a pretty pricey reel. I’m looking at a shit ton of reels to buy as my first baitcaster, so far I have been looking at the cheaper Shimanos ($120-170) and Shimano Rods. Lew’s look like good reels as well. Personally, if money no matter, I would take the Revo Aurora 64 Limited which you can still get out there such as from Japan Tackle for example, well at least the left-hand crank model anyway. But, the reel itself already costs $365. And for me, I would still have to upgrade the handle since the stock handle is only 80mm plus I would also need to replace the stock spool with a ZPI HD spool since the reel comes with a shallow spool. So, once I add everything up, it would be easily $600 if not more. At that price point, I am just not convinced it would be worth it.

For the same price. I would go with the curado DC. Since I got my ike reel for half price I am not complaining. Yes it has a small blemish. I am not super impressed with it mainly because it is the same as the six with upgrades like you mentioned. I wish companies that pair with celebs would at least do something different. Maybe like a new feature they are testing out or something. Love you videos. Keep up the great work. Stay safe.

I know I’m a bit late but did you feel a geariness with the spool on vs without? I know obv there’s going to be resistance but between the noise and resistance I’m tempted to ask someone to look at it. Seems maybe the spools not spinning very freely on the pinion shaft.

Plus, in Asia the Curado DC is only US$200. So, sure, I would buy the Curado DC before I consider the Revo Ike. Did you test the Revo Ike before you gave it away?

If you got to try to find things out like the button what never heard that before 😝 I can nick pick better than that go through it 😉 one is paint and one is coating like planting crime or gold the titanium is the best look for shor in durability #1 but the paint is in a different kind of technology. But it's all not cheap 😮

My only issue with the reel is it's duragear is a bit too hefty. Made of brass and large. Wish Abu would put a more compact aluminum gear system in it. The reel would at least drop a full ounce of weight. It would also have more of a balance feel too.

well you have fans of both brass and aluminum. I predict the next STX will have aluminum and probaby a carbon side plate to reduce the weight and they will point out that its lighter than the previous model.

That's now what I hear there just blemishes and can't get sold as perfect. That's how they get them for so cheep and can resale them on the after market. I've worked in the factory 🏭 for batteries company do the same thing if it has a scratch on the battery 🔋 can't get sold as now perfect so it gets sold as blemishes at cost to people on bulk sale to resale.

No, DOYO and Banax are totally different companies. Both have their own manufacturing facilities even though they are located in the same city in Korea. All three reels (even the Katsutaka Imae version) in the video have been made by DOYO as other Abu Revo series reels and Lew's reels. Banax is known as a company that makes 13 fishing reels and Okuma reels. Of course, both companies also produce KDM only models and those reels are generally more refinded than models with other companies' name tag :)

I have a curado dc and I’m pleased with it. I also have multiple revos (premier, stx, rocket, alx and inshore) and honestly I prefer the smoothness of the shimano by far! I’ve always been an Abu Garcia guy but since I bought the metanium then the curado k then the DC I’m leaning toward the Shimanos now!

I heard you give a throurogh review of the pretty Abu Ike, compare it to the STX, comment on downside of eBay deals that are too good to be true etc. Kinda curious if missing screw was only defect found, hard to believe Abu would choose to lose money instead installing 2¢ screw. I never criticized any specific statement or opinion you made. My comment was a little harsh, I apologize. Being a blue collar guy I hold quality, performance & price above looks. I didnt think your comment was harsh but it lacked some common sense. Throughout the entire video I pretty much made it known I bought this reel for the paintjob. I do reviews based on what I want to see. I want to see how well a reel casts, how good are the brakes? is this latest "tech" from a company legit or just fluff? etc. I dont do reviews based on "will this reel in fish". I expect a reel to do that. So far all I see missing is the screw. Everything else seems to work. Also if you comment here with "constructive criticism" expect some "constructive criticism" back. This is a 2 way street and Im not one of these KZbinrs that kisses peoples ass for views, subs, or likes... because I dont need to. I have a real job just like you. KZbin is just a hobby that happens to make me some extra $. So I dont care if you comment but if your comment is something that could have been resolved by listening better or thinking things through logically then expect criticism from me on your comment.

Here’s the thing, I’d never be comfortable throwing that revo Ike where someone else could be watching. Because I know the second I threw into a tree or backlashed my reel, they’d be saying “hah! figures...” Don’t get me wrong, it’s a gorgeous reel...one that I would love to have in my collection. But it seems to say “I prefer form over function”...even if it does function nicely...which I’m sure it does.

It kinda really disappointed me bc that was the first reel I ever bought with a clicking spool tension. Other than that though the reel is great and has stood up to 2 years of hard abuse

Personally I don’t like abu due to the reels having the same design just a little upgrades hear and there. Oh Shimano did give me a reel with a defect and it was a replacement for a warranty reel. I’m still pissed off because I did send it back and they came back saying it meets factory-spec and Im thinking F off. The problem was that the gearing was messed up leading to a weird geary feeling. The handle was way to wobbly for a Shimano and I know that they have a little wobble. They sed I was wrong but I went to a cebelas , and held a curado dc and a bantam. There wasn’t the problem I experienced with my chronarch mgl. (Warranty reel). Just to make sure I wasn’t going crazy lol. I do own other Shimano baitcasters but they are pretty well used so I needed a better reference point.
