the abu ultra were AHEAD of their time because they had SELF CENTERING LINE GUIDE. So beyond anything that was being done by anyone else. Still my best long casting small reel!! 45 years old and rocks!

Where Did You Get That Tournament Drag Knob, I Wanna Get One For My Abu 5000.

I just cut the star points of the regular star drag knob coz its expensive to buy a custom made. But its available if you want one. So what i did is cut the point near the base and place some grove or checkering if you prefer.

I Cut The Star Drag Points On A Southbend Baitcaster I Have That Are Plastic It Turned Out Great,I Don't Have A Grinder To Try It On My 5000

Use the old file. And put some grooves/checkerings so when your hands are wet you can still adjust the drag

Nice video on my favorite reel, I have owned the Mag III since new and just purchased an even faster Ultra Mag III XL, I have recently purchased a 13ft beach casting rod and tried it with the Mag 3 and emptied the spool mid air! measured the line on the reel aprox.164 yards! glad you also clear the spool as I have a non believer here in the UK and will link your video to him, please tell me what bearings did you use in your mag 2 when you replaced them? Phil
