Abul'Hasan Malik-The Origin of Marriage is Polygyny {Khutbah}

This is a must hear soul stirring reminder on how we as Muslims should view the blessing of plural marriage.
To be honest this is one of the best khutbahs I've ever heard..May Allah reward the brother for this beneficial talk.

Just like the brother said, European influence. The west has facilitated its own basis of right and wrong, and some Muslims who live in the west have gotten used to it to the point that they subconsciously side with western ideology over what Allah sent down. Ironically, Christians shouldn’t have an issue with it. In the Bible, polygamy is all over the place. Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. David had several wives. Abraham had 2-3 wives. Isaac had 2 wives, etc.

That scholar was literally shouting. Men get so aggressive while trying to prove polygyny n get even more aggressive when someone proves it’s kinda unnecessary or there r alternatives with proper logic. A whole group of people not caring for the emotions n feelings of delicate creatures like women (who constitute a lot more than half of the society n for whose safety Allah mainly legalised polygyny) How more unkind can people be? It’s not the western or modern form of marriage but monogamy should be the rule (ONE MAN, ONE WOMAN. He’s a man n she’s a human. He’s not any sperm factory for fertilising multiple women’s eggs cuz women r not baby birthing machines or devices for the pleasure of men’s ***). Even Adam got only one woman, Eve. If polygyny were so very good, Allah would create four women from his ribs. Polygyny was never about men’s desires of more physical satisfaction or children (for it will become greed with time) n always for women’s benefits (not only widows, divorcees or orphans but all kinds of women). Polygyny might give social peace but it destroys marital peace (very few things in this world r as painful as u loving ur partner to the moon n back but that damn guy loving another one of his wife cuz no person can love multiple people romantically at the same time which is a scientific fact n Allah also states this in the Quran). Polygamy might bring benefits for the society but it might bring nothing but harm for individuals n families (society is constituted of families n individuals. Familial conflict, social disturbance, familial indiscipline, social destruction). Islam is a timeless religion for the people of all cultures n places. But only upto the 20th century (till ‘1300 years’ after the beginning of Islam), the war rule of not killing women n children was obeyed but nowadays women n children become the main victims of wars (rape, murder, bombings/shoots in houses, starvation, no shelter). So there r less chances of women outnumbering men ‘largely’ (in current time, the ratio of men n women’s segregated population is almost equal with men slightly outnumbering women but the number of men is ‘slowly’ coming down which will eventually result in the ratio of men n women becoming 1:50 i.e 1 one for every 50 women which is already stated in the Quran n Hadith) Polygyny might be needed in future but in today’s generation, it is not important. It should be banned for the next few decades of centuries n the ban ‘must’ be taken off when the number of women finally outnumber men to a ‘great extent’ (the doors of women having the right to divorce their husbands cuz of them engaging in polygyny should be always kept fully open as Allah didn’t make women bound to not feel bad about it). This is not any effing ‘feminism’ but the truth (being a feminist is one thing n denying the bitter truth is another thing, we’ve got rights to talk about it n discourage it with our views just like men love it so much n encourage it with their views)!

Adam and Hawwa were the only people, all the Prophets and Messengers had more then one wife but Adam. You are to use knowledge in Islam and not use what you think, the Qur'an says if you fear injustice only marry one, and if you fear injustice don't marry the orphan girls but marry different women who please you, two, three, or four. (Saying for example): “If the people where to be left without (having to offer) Ṣalāt, this would be better; or without having to fast, this would be better; or without having to pay Zakāt, this would be better.” Whoever says this, then he is a Kāfir. Likewise, whoever says that not praying is more befitting; or not fasting is more befitting; or not paying Zakāt is more befitting; or not making Ḥajj is more proper; (whoever says this) then he is a Kāfir. Likewise, if one were to say: “There is nothing wrong with ruling by other than the Sharīʿah; it is permissible.” Even if he says that ruling by the Sharīʿah is better, but he says that ruling by other than that which Allāh has sent down is permissible or it is good, all of this constitutes apostasy from Islām, and we seek refuge with Allāh. The gist of the matter is, that whoever dislikes that which Allāh has sent down and that which Allāh has legislated then he is an apostate. Likewise, whoever loves or is pleased with that which Allāh has prohibited and says that it is good and that it is appropriate; such as fornication and stealing, then he is a Kāfir as well; and we ask Allāh for safety. The last ayat you mentioned in that surah do you know what it's referring to? It referring to if your not able to do justice between them then it's best to marry 1 it did not say it's best to marry 1 it's best to marry 1 if you cannot be just!! Read it carefully
