Next time they threaten to shoot down the drone you should inform them that discharging a firearm on private property where the projectile might leave the private property is illegal under the firearms act and carries a heavy penalty. This not only covers firearms but also air rifles.

He should probably inform them that he isn't allowed to film private property from a drone first, and then move on. The police are well within their rights to confiscate the drone if he films private property without consent, and hopefully they soon will.

@@temparalflux914 Points 20 to 25 of CAA drone and model aircraft code make it very clear that there is no filming without permission over private land and Nottinghamshire police's own website has a very detailed section on drones including their right to seize equipment if the code isn't followed. Police permissions are also included in the CAA guidance. It does seem that officers have chosen to not take action until now which I can only imagine is due to lack of training around drones and privacy. So no, it's actually totally correct.

I don't think he would be allowed to have a gun on site so I've contacted Humberside Police firearms team to ask them if this business is licensed to use guns and store them on that site. I think he'll be getting a visit from the firearms team soon as they tend to take such matters seriously.

An adopted road is still privately owned, but maintained by the council. All roads can be used by the public. For a private road to exclude the public, it has to be gated. Both for vehicles and pedestrians.
