The easiest way to look at it without worrying about which turn the damage registers specifically, is that it takes 1 turn to activate charged move. Therefore 5 turn incinerate + 1 turn for the charged move is equivalent to 6 turns, or 3 sparks/counters. The old mechanic meant that fast move damage took priority over charged move activation, so if you try to throw a charged move on the same turn that damage registers on your Pokémon (i.e. turn 6) the damage will get priority & therefore if that damage would be enough to KO, you won't get off the charged move. Niantic intended to completely rework this mechanic, with the new mechanic prioritising the charged move activation first, but also ensuring the fast move damage registered straight afterwards, regardless of whether that charged move would KO or not. Essentially not giving priority to either side, but making sure both would activate if they fell on the same turn. This was in the game for maybe a day or 2 before it was reverted, but a hybrid of this new intended mechanic became an inconsistent but permanent mechanic, where sometimes the charged move would activate first, but if the charged move KOed the opponent, the fast move damage would not be apply at all. This is a fairly rare occurrence & typically the old mechanic is still more common, but if you play out that scenario a lot, you'll notice it does occur enough for it to be quite a problematic inconsistency.

This happen also in the opposite situation? I noticed multiple time and it costs me some battles that if I fire a charge move 1 turn before the end of a fast move that will KO me I cannot fire the charge move.. for example.. my volt switch 4 turns plus charge move, this combination last 5 turns in total, incinerate last 5 turn.. if I do this with my pokemon healty it is a perfect timing and I fire the charge move but if my pokemon will go down after that incinerate I cannot fire the charge move.. is this normal??

You’re right that damage registers one turn before the end of a fast move (1 for spark, 3 for volt switch, etc). If the damage registers on the same turn as the charge move is pressed, like the scenarios you described, the outcome is currently inconsistent. This is the “new mechanic” that people complain a lot about.

isn't this because of the 1 turn entrance delay mechanic? If Talon gets it it'll actually need 6 turns to get to the charge move while 3 two turns fast moves damage will register in 5.5 turns, giving the win to the opponent on that case

Go Buggy Lag GBL is so frustrating which is why I usually just go for veteran then just play for fun. I was driving myself insane going for expert/legend against really good players where every bit of lag ruins the game. So now I'll have a few beers etc kick back and relax and just collect stardust.

If I had to guess, what you're talking about starting at 8:00 is due to "PID" or "Player ID" Basically, if the game has to process an action from multiple players at once, and only one can happen, then whoever has better PID will win. So it gives priority to one player since it can't do both. PID can be hard coded to your login session, such that until you close and reopen the app, your place in the priority que is the same. Or it can be time based, and you can get a new PID daily, hourly, or even by minute. You could test this by getting into a friendly battle and recreating the scenario; if you recreate the 3 spark situation, and you always take it out, it's move based and I'm wrong. But if sometimes the spark goes through and sometimes it doesn't, which I would assume means I'm right.

Not related to this video in particular but one thing I've always wondered is how all you content creators are able to tell when it's a CMP tie or not? What the tell? There's nothing in the UI that shows it..?

It is a CMP tie, if you do not see a fast move of the opponent

Funny, I watched your algorithm video followed by this and decided to give it a try (clodsire instead of lickitung as I don't have one levelled). Proceeded to come across 2 Golbat leads which can spam poison, something that my usual lead of Lanturn handles fine 😑 The algorithm allegations are going nowhere

the wonky mechanics are definitely getting even more noticeable now. i can imagine with more and more people using lag switches, inconsistencies are only gonna get worse. they need to remove "elo" and leaderboards to get rid of sweaty cheaters

I don't understand the feeling that Licki is innaccessible. I started grinding mine the second you could walk for XLs, it felt like in the beginning, you have to choose which XL to work on because there were so many for all the leagues. I picked Licki first and accepted the i wouldn't have a good Sableye, Medi, or any level 50 Ultra League pokemon for a while. As of today, i have XLs of most major Great League pokemon, and a handful of Ultra mons. It just takes time.

The game mechanic is called new mechanic and it doesn’t always work. It is where you reach the move 1 turn before your opponent takes you out. Like I said before this mechanic doesn’t always work and you hope it does or doesn’t work most of them time.

Running this team, but PUP Medi rather than DP or Psychic. Building up to a Psychic grabs shields, just like building up to as if you had Hydro Pump with the Azu does.
