Document all the abuse, inform HR/boss and contact a lawyer/get a better job. HR is not your friend.

Nailed it. As an apprentice I dealt with lots of shit. From fire stopping for thr first 2 years. Tools thrown at me. Yelled at blasted. I hated working at that company. Imposter syndrome. All that. Anxiety. I go to work now Im foreman, and when an apprentice stresses me out. I dont want to make them feel like shit. Even if I get atitude or pushback. That thin line is well you can go home. Or I request not to work with them. But , I will not call someone dumb or yell at them. Its just not worth it. Thats an asshole. I used to go home when I was apprentice vibrating with anger and vent to my wife. She would help me. I was aware of why i was pissed. She says , since I started working at the new company 2 years ago , its night and day difference. My challenge is my job. Not the people I work with. I gotta say though, I got great at working under that toxic environment tho. I struggled with anxiety for years. And one day I had foreman over my back telling me shitty things and I couldnt do it and was gonna f up.and in my head to myself . I said no Im not, watch me, and fuck you" i dont have words for how powerful that moment was Sorry bout my rant. Thanks for your video. Also, if anyone reads this.. there are better companies out there. .

Alex, I always appreciate you giving your experience on the topic. I also agree with you that there is a silver lining to being in toxic environments which is, you learn to work under that pressure/stress/toxicity. But...inevitably you have to leave because it will literally change the way your brain looks at things. I'm really happy to hear you're in a better place, and your rants are always welcome.

the hot/cold things has really gotten to me one month into my apprenticeship... one day my journeyman will be happy, next day he won't give you a hello/goodbye and will bark orders... then I'll have another who is kinda hard on me, but recently he used me as an example of what an apprentice should conduct himself when speaking to another apprentice who's been there longer than me... so many mixed signals... something that really fucked me up this week is the supervisor who's job is to visit our sites daily was discussing plans with my journeyman... i bust my ass off to make sure my tasks are completed, so during this point i truly had nothing to do and struggled to find pointless activities to look busy, so i thought to myself maybe i could learn something if i listen to them discussing what they had planned for the pipeout because i have anxiety when i think I'll be in my journeyman's position some day having to understand all this shit... 5 seconds standing there trying to listen an absorb the supervisor turned to me and said we don't pay you to stand around doing nothing... ny journeyman at the time knows we had nothing to do and i literally aced all my tasks just pulled me to the side and quietly told me to take my time going through his van as if I'm looking for something until he leaves... bless him... what these supervisors and owners don't realise is people don't forget... once I'm qualified I'm out of there. idc if you're supposedly nicer outside of work, that was a huge disrespect and a direct shot at my character. the journeyman i had at that time is actually a real G... he already has me trying to discuss things on my own with the site formen and relay the information back to him and doing marking out... it's what these companies need to be doing more often with apprentices is not wasting their first year making them do labour tasks but actually have them marking out, discussing and going over site plans, doing things that require a knowledge of the codes... especially for someone who has an ambition and good work ethic... there's still a handful of journeymen i haven't worked with yet, but when i see them in the yard they seem to be nice... just the supervisor and one journeyman are assholes or hard to read... supervisor is someone I'm probably never going to like... a real try hard wannabe who thinks he's the cool guy because he has shares in the company and has a lot of responsibility and people sucking his nuts on the daily. his sense of humor sucks, it's just shock humor, his attitude towards people during work hours is just unwarranted. hopefully there's a pathway to running my own business as I'm doing commercial and not residential

I’ve had my sexuality question I’ve been called a filthy ginger. I’ve had two by fours thrown at me. I’ve had a hammer thrown at me. I had a journeyman that used to get a quarter or a nickel red hot leave it on the ground right in front of them and then ask you to hand it to him … if anybody out there is curious why it’s so hard to find a plumber in Gallatin county Bozeman, Montana it’s because they all hate each other back in the day there was only four shops and those four shops produced all the other ones - any 10 year journeyman or master plumbers around here hate each other with a burning passion .. like straight up fight on site drill holes in your pipe loosen up your gas lines break your shower valves…

That was excellent. Exactly what I’m going through at the company I’m at. Unfortunately no other shop in my area takes apprentices only pre-apprentices or journeyman.

I’m saddened to hear you’re experiencing this, but I hope the video has helped with providing strategies…I know it’s not as easy as it sounds to make some of these decisions…but remember, the goal is that you are at your best. Let me know how everything is going please 🙏 🤟✌️

Funny how this vid is the first thing that popped up on a day where I have to work with my verbally abusive coworker. Not only has he yelled or talked down to me and others. But he’s yelled at people in the office and is very racist as well. One little mistake and he uses the opportunity to say something mean. So thank you for making this vid. It’s an important topic that I don’t hear about much. I really don’t want new plumbers to be driven away from the trade because of it.

This is so timely. You released this one day before I had to speak to my boss regarding a coworker with serious issues. Also my last full week working with the guy. Beginning next week I’ll be on my own truck running small calls for the company after 8months of hard work. I’m just happy everything paid off. Thanks for this kenny! This really helped. Appreciate it 🔥🤍

Richard, I’m really happy to hear that you talked to your boss about things. It’s very courageous of you, and that’s the right attitude. And on top of all this you’ll be on your own!!!! REALLY PROUD of you brother! Keep it up, and keep me posted on your progress! 🤟✌️

I'm currently in a plumbing pre-apprenticeship program once i'm in my apprenticeship Do I have to go to trade school?
@Kennymolotov

In Ontario once you register as an apprentice (with a registered training agreement) the ministry will send you to trade school incrementally. So all you have to do is find a company to work with, and register you.
