How much of my supplication should I devote to you (Selawat)?” He said, “You may devote as much as you wish.” When I suggested “a quarter”, he said, “Do whatever you wish, but it will be better for you if you increase it.” I suggested “a half”, he replied, “Do whatever you wish, but it will be better for you if you increase it.” I suggested “two-thirds”, he then said, “Do whatever you wish but it will be better for you if you increase it.” I said, “Shall I devote all my supplications to send Selawat upon you?” He said, “Then you will be freed from your worries and your sins will be forgiven.”

@@tayyibrash1eed8947 brother learn about "urf". Its even mentioned in the Quran meaning that if something in a culture doesnt go against the Quran and Sunnah you follow it. I'm pretty sure the shayx being from Egypt does't likes this because in his country this is against their norms which i'm pretty sure about. Maybe he doesnt mention it because his student is from west where there is almost no culture left and he doesnt want to make a big deal out of it but the student should know his teachers culture. The teacher shouldnt have to say it in the first place. Remember good manners in Islam weighs heavy. As an example imam Malik would go around Madinah barefooted and when asked why he would say because his beloved prophet s.a.w. could have crossed that place in that place so he didnt like the idea that he would have any shoes on a blessed place. Umar r.a said they used to first learn good manners and then knowledge because good manners are from the roots of iman
