They were very much tainted. They are within the realm of honor and madness . They stopped trying to defeat the abyss they protect it over all else instead. They fell to it's dooming culture like Artorias

They continue to fight the abyss. Killing each other over and over untill you come and put them down. They didnt want that, they didnt welcome it. Nor did artorias. He fell to protect those he loves, he didn not want to become a broken puppet of the emptyness of the abyss.

The fact that you brought up the point of them killing eachother brings that point to light. You think the last few remaining were of sane mind? If that were the case they wouldn't even look the way they do nor act in the manner in which they do.

@@fragglefknrock7568 even the ones that are sane arecorrupted. You can seethe abyss on their models. But my point/issuewas you said they are protecting the abyss and imply artorias did too. But even as physically and mentally broken as they were they still do their job. They kill the abyss, even if it ment to kill themselves. They are sane enough to do that. The way you say it, its as if they gave up and joined the abyss willingly

@@kingcockroach. Nobody joins the abyss willingly and I never stated that to be the the case. I specified they were tainted and protect the abyss. They kill it as you say by killing themselves but near the end all that was left was simply the abyss. They lost control the decrepit dead you see around on the floor are the fallen. What remains is a group of completely corrupted guardians for the abyss itself stopping anything from coming down upon it. Artorias fell to and when he fell he stopped doing his job. His goal was to defeat it a long with Manis. The major defeat lead to his demise and at that point he had no more control and his insanity was at its peak. Neither of these situations were based upon just giving up nor accepting the abyss. It was inevitable and uncontrollable. There might of been little peaks of consciousness still but that was irrelevant by that point. "They are within the realm of honor and madness" That pretty much shows I don't believe they willingly gave themselves to the abyss. It's a thought process that can't spand all within only one statement such as them protecting the abyss. I thought I was pretty clear.

I honestly like this version more than the original. Feels more tragic imo, and the notes aren't as grating to the ears conpared to the original. Original version is still great tho.
