Austin, just wanted to pop by and say that ever since I played Abzu some time 5 years ago, the soundtrack has stayed with me at every turn. Just hearing a couple of notes from a song and there is this sense of calmness, instant relaxation, like plunging into the clear waters of Abzu's ocean. It's very special to me, and will stay with me for a long time. Thank you

I don't know if you will see this man, but I just finished some games you worked on including this one. Never, EVER stop composing. You have the gift to turn games into the works of art they come out to be like Abzu and Journey. I was gripped from start to finish with your absolute magic. I wish you the best and I hope I see your name in some upcoming games, I will pick them up without question.

This reminds me so much of Journey's soundtrack yet it's so different as has such a different feel. Yet some of the instruments and I guess "voices" used and even some small melodies here and there remind me of Journey. I've listened to Journey's soundtrack so many times in full and it has introduced me to a lot more of your music, including The Pathless and Banner Saga. I love how even though you're using similar instruments and motifs in completely different games with completely different environments, the setting and emotions of the music you create for each one is unique and inspiring.

I listened the entire OST from Abzu before playing the game, and I've cried, before, and plus even after I've played the game with this song... I have always liked so much Japanese compositors, more than any other music composer, but after meet you, I can say you are in my top five of my favorite videogame music composers, you have and amazing feeling and a fresh style, I'm completely fall in love about your work and now I appreciate so much that you've uploaded the full music score of your work, It's a big detail that talks so good about you and no all composers do something like that, you are so great, this OST deserves a GOTY, without doubs, and I hope I can listen to your music in a big production in a near future. Greetings from Mexico, Maestro!!! 😌

Wow....just finished Abzu. Had to come hear this again. What a rush this finale was. I also loved your work in Journey & Flow. These types of games are my favorite, ones that are purely about capturing atmosphere and emotion within the light gameplay. The buildup starting at 3:48 that transitions between the main Abzu melody and this song’s melody is amazing. That section’s climax from 4:11 to 4:20 legitimately brings me to tears every time. And the return of the song’s main melody afterwards as you reach the open ocean with the whales is so cathartic. Genuinely one of the most powerful and moving pieces of music I’ve ever heard. I am so happy to have found your music, as you are one of the best composers I have come across and a great inspiration for me. I’m definitely going to check out The Pathless soon after hearing you did the soundtrack for that game as well!

I love this series ! Its so interesting to get a look at how it was created and the complexity behind this masterpiece ! For someone like me who is very bad (and very slow) at reading sheet music, it was helpful to have the little line moving across and keeping time like you did for Apotheosis, any reason why you chose not to do that here ?

Great video. Thank you, as always for your work and brilliant videos. I have a question, with the looping cues transitioning into the non-looping cues such as Loop 1 -> intro to Loop 2, is the music able to trigger this transition during the the middle of loop 1, or does it have to finish before transitioning to the non-looping cue? If the former is something you allow, how do you allow for a smooth transition in WWise? Is it something along the lines of quantising the change to a bar and have a crossfade, or is it more complex? Thanks so much!
