Thank you for the video, I changed the condenser myself and feel really accomplished

i heard people saying it can be replaced without taking off the bumper, i did try that approach but i end taking the whole bumper is just so much comfortable and accessible if you do is really not that hard

Some folks commenting are confused. This is the condenser replacement and not the compressor replacement. Replacing the compressor is by removing the alternator. My '04 has a hole in the condenser and air goes from cold to non-existent within a month.

Sir Sweetness how did it work out for you? I am currently looking to replace a locked ac condenser. Did you have to take everything out. Mine is under the alternator
@usfgtdgeorgedonaghy55257 жыл бұрын
We had compressor changed out and it seems everything else related to a/c but air does not get that really cold like it used to. Is better at highway speeds though. Mechanic now says we need condenser for another $600 on top of $1000 already laid out. Thanks
@jojolozano48686 жыл бұрын
Did you check the fan ... If it works on the highway its because you getting plenty of air to the condenser and if it gets warm at idle its your fan

What happened to the freon? Did you have to let go?
@PeterKesting4 жыл бұрын
the reason my radiator was broken was because I hit something that caused the leak so the freon went out into the air by accident
@GreggFieldsonWriting3 жыл бұрын
You can usually ask a nearby repair shop to evacuate the ac coolant for free or cheap before starting the repair.
@georgedonaghy25297 жыл бұрын
So the a/c condenser is not under pressure with freon? I had a quote to replace for $600. If its not under pressure or any special thing to do after replacement it seems rather easy. Thanks for the video
@PeterKesting7 жыл бұрын
good point, in a normal working ac system it is under pressure. But chances are if you need to replace your condenser, it probably has some hole and all the refrigerant has already leaked out and it is no longer under pressure. If you are unsure, you can take it to a place and find out easily enough if it will hold a vacuum.

I have 2006 toyota sienna XLE I just bought a AC Condenser A/C Air Conditioning with Receiver Drier for 04-10 Toyota Sienna on amazon and i dont know what is receiver drier for! 🤷🏻♂️ do you think ive got the correct condenser? My order will arrive in between nov 7-13! 🤞🏻 i hope i got the right parts!
@PeterKesting5 жыл бұрын
Yes I think you do have the right one, the dryer is something that is optional to replace, it is attached to the condenser, if you didn't get a new one, you could use the old one, since you have a new one, just but the new one in. It's like if you ordered new tires and they came with new lug nuts, Perhaps you paid a little more for that bundle, but probably not much, and might as well use the new part.

Great Video...I'm about to do the same job on my 2005 Sienna

Thanks I'm glad you liked it, comment back on how it went when you are done, remember don't let your 2 year old stand in front of the van when removing the bumper, learn from my mistakes!
@anthonysmith16798 жыл бұрын
I will certainly keep that in mind..My compressor went so I got a new one from Amazon along with the new condenser. The compressor already comes with oil, but with replacing the condenser do I need to add additional oil....If so do you have an idea how many ounces this system takes....I'm about to go out in the 95 degree heat to start this project.
@anthonysmith16798 жыл бұрын
OK I removed the condenser. I follow your instructions and it went smoothly. The Phillip head screws securing the condenser to the bracket you had grinded off, well I had the same issue. So I apply some heat with acetylene and they came right out. Now I’m waiting on the condenser and compressor to come tomorrow via UPS. Your instructions were simple to follow and very detailed. I have 167K on the van and still running good. It’s a 2005 AWD XLE…I wouldn’t buy another Toyota product since their warranty sucks. The auto sliders on both sides are malfunctioning for the 4th time and it eats tires. With that said it is turning into a chore to keep it going. I did the plugs and coils October 2005 and that was a job. But I found that removing the wipers and that plastic cowl along the windshield made it much easier to access the rear plugs and coils. Also I used a magnetic spark plug socket to install the plugs. That worked great with keeping the plugs in the socket to install them.

I'm not a technician so take my advice as you will. But I looked at the service manual and it doesn't say to add oil when changing the condenser, just to coat the o rings with oil (which I didn't do in the video) with ND-OIL 8 or equivalent. So I wouldn't worry about adding oil.
@PeterKesting8 жыл бұрын
correct, no oil
@Evrenthewrencher4 жыл бұрын
U did a good video but im sure people ll not vacuum dry rhe system now and just try to fill the system with cans and kill the compressor lol condenser should include some oil before installing about 1.5 oz 😁

Crap. I just removed all that stuff last summer replacing the radiator on this lemon of a vehicle.
@PeterKesting7 жыл бұрын
That's funny because I did the same thing, I replaced the radiator about a year before I did the condenser. The radiator was a fail on the part of Toyota, the plastic tanks cracked, not sure why. The condenser wasn't so much Toyota's fault, I drove my van into super deep snow in my driveway, and it built up under there as I drove and finally enough pressure caused the condenser to crack. Sorry you have a lemon, I have to say my 05 toyota has been pretty trouble free, I've spent a lot on maintenance, but the radiator was really the only part so far to fail.

@@528freq8 Yeah I still have my Sienna. I like it a lot. It is a work horse, but anything that is 20 years old is going to need some TLC. Engine still good and transmission still good. So I keep fixing stuff. At the price of used or new, it would take a lot to make it worth dumping it.
