Great job thank you. I’m really grateful for the step by step instructions. I’m not that good of a mechanic. No problems at all getting it apart . Now back together and have it working. That is the problem. Please keep these coming.👍

Great video, simple and I appreciate that you did not include the fuel pump removal process. One guy spent the entire video removing his.🤕

Hi! 1958 AMC Rambler Super here, (pt.22) I was looking at the two old fuel pumps I have for the rambler, I'm not sure if they work, I wasn't the owner of the car when it was all assembled and driving. What are some ways to check and see if the pump is working while it's disconnected from the car? I suppose I could take it apart, but if I do I geuss I might be wrecking the seals ect and I'm hesitant I do that.

You could disconnect the inlet and outlet fuel pipes on the fuel pump and the then flush the fuel pipes and fuel tank. Then put new fuel in the tank and only connect the inlet pipe to the fuel pump, leave the outlet from the fuel pump disconnected. Crank the engine over to draw new fuel through the fuel pump and let it flow out of the disconnected outlet into a bucket. (Warning make sure you disconnect the 12 volt supply to HT-spark coil otherwise a spark could start a fire, ensure you have a powder style fire extinguisher handy). This should help flush the bad fuel and junk out of the fuel pump and stop the rubbish from getting into the carby jets. I run a paper element fuel filter after the AC fuel pump to keep the small bits of rubbish out of the carby.

Is the one-way valve one on the inlet side relieving the pump from overflodding the cab
@sb3bedfordbusstuff1463 жыл бұрын
The one way valve does not relieve or regulate the pressure to stop flooding of the carburetor. Fuel pressure regulation is achieved by the spring force in the fuel pump. The harder the fuel pump spring force the higher the pressure and a soft spring would cause less fuel pressure. Often a flooding carb is due to the float valve sticking open or rubbish caught between the float valve and seat. Hope this helps

Do these type pumps need to be primed after a rebuild? If so, how?
@sb3bedfordbusstuff1463 жыл бұрын
Hi Trevor, These fuel pumps don't generally need to be primed after a re-build but I would fill the fuel bowl with petrol/gas this will help it to suck fuel much easier. I run a small electric fuel pump (near the fuel tank) in line and before the AC mechanical fuel pump, which helps prime and fills the fuel bowl. This helps especially if the vehicle has been sitting a while, The electric priming pump is turned on manually for a few seconds to prime the system this save the starter motor from lots of cranking to prime the mechanical fuel pump. But in saying all of this you shouldn't need all this extra complicated stuff if things are all set up and mechanically sound. Have a look at kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGnHk6dunpiip5o and kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaKalZ18h8mKmac at 2 minutes 15 seconds which shows how the electric fuel pump is used to prim the AC mechanical pump.

0:46 Most rebuild kits on the market do not provide this seal. Any information on where I might obtain one?
@sb3bedfordbusstuff1463 жыл бұрын
Hello bigpapanoodle The link below is for a New Zealand website Auto store called "Butler Auto Mart" and is the same kit used in this video. www.butlerautomart.co.nz/our-range/Fuel-system/Fuel-pump-gaskets-(fpg)/Product-Specification-MGBD2.aspx The second link shows all fuel pump kits stocked by the same store. www.butlerautomart.co.nz/our-range/Fuel-system/Fuel-pump-gaskets-(fpg)/index.aspx I'm unsure as to if Butlers will ship to the UK but give them a ring or email with the request.
