AC Milan AGREE terms with Porto striker Mehdi Taremi!

Starting with Maldini - it was important to incorporate someone of his stature at Milan in order to maintain historical integrity and provide much needed football intelligence beyond AI - but ultimately his micromanagement of the technical area amid a series of miscalculations e.g. letting go Donnarumma, Kessie and Çalhanoglu for free; spending 90% of the transfer budget last year to bring in CDK right at the transfer deadline; giving Pioli substandard product to work with (Vranckx, Dest, Adli) - cost him and Massara their jobs. I think we can all agree now that Milan’s decision-making in the technical area is much more streamlined with maximum input from Pioli and Moncada. The Mercato - has been the most dynamic and determined one in some time. Regardless who’s the person on the other line, it’s Milan calling at the end of the day. That is to say, Milan is the reason why players decide to come here, as based on the club’s grandeur, befitting project and recent success. Suffice to say, I’m very happy with the business done so far but will wait until it’s done to cast final judgement. Formation - started well last year with their attack-minded 4231, but following their come-from-behind tie with Roma in January, they went on to concede 16 goals in 5 games. To shore up defensive efforts, Pioli went on a brief 352 stint until Milan’s losses to Fiorentina and Udinese. They played their next 15 games in a modified 433, and went on to be undefeated in Serie A while reaching the semis in the UCL. The 433 provided a better press, more control of the centre and play including better passing options, and greater defensive guarantees by forcing opponents to play in wide areas. Be that as it may, I think Milan must be able to adapt to multiple formations depending on the occasion. Players - who have been acquired have 7 things in common: direct, 1v1 proficiency, pace, very good use of both feet (not counting Romero), high work rate, can shoot on target and score, and versatility. I would argue that the most important role, especially in a 433, is going to be played by the trident in midfield. Luckily, all of Milan’s available midfielders are uniquely suited for a 3-man midfield, including Krunic and Pobega. Going forward, they need a pure defensive midfielder to complete the trident. I’m partial to Nicolas Dominguez from Bologna given his experience and knowledge of the league, but wouldn’t say “no” to young Musah as deputy to a healthy Bennacer. Finally - much importance is being placed on the centre forward role. Arsenal must introduce me to their Optometrist so I can see the same thing they see in pricing Balogun at €60M. Taremi would be a solid addition given his production, experience and ability to be slotted in any formation - but ultimately I think Milan will opt for youth, speed and versatility, that is, someone who can play multiple forward positions e.g. Danjuma. If you ask me personally, Chukwueze would be the important acquisition they could possibly make. Keep up the great work!

433 is the way. We started playing with 2 Midfielder because of Kessie, then after he left there was a Hole in the middle where neither Benny or Tonali were able to fill. 433 gives more cover and good counter attack 🖤♥️

Milan playing straight up 4-3-3 without a playmaker give me nightmares! I remember Seedorf, Inzaghi, Mihajlovic, etc teams, they were all kind of awful, mostly wingers disconnected from the 3 midfielders in the back, and a lot of long passes, not a cohesive game plan, just nightmares! Taremi won't have the same spaces in Italy that he had I. This mercato is very exciting. I think we are making a bit much on the switch to 433. Both formations pretty similar when looking a Milan. Our trequarista isn't a the playmaker as much as a leader of the press. This means that while we can argue that we play a 4231, we really play like a 433, with the shape in the middle being inverted in order to mirror teams playing in a traditional 433 (which is why we played Bennacer on Lobotka in UCL). This means that (no matter the initial positioning) we can expect Pulsic, Giroud, and Leao up front and leading the press will be our 3 in the middle. Call it what you want but I don't think this much of a change compared to last year. Playing defensive players up top is actually pretty common with for example Kante 2 years ago playing in a more advanced position during phases off-the-ball. This is the reason why CDK was garbage. He has decent passing but his press is lousy and he is easily bullied off the ball.

I have to agree with the Maldinis part. He would never have sold Tonali. However, we could have made money by selling unnecessary players. CDK, Adli, Messias, Alexis, Origi, Rebic, Pobega, Gabbia. The 60 million spent so far could have been obtained from the sale, and Tonali could have stayed. Management did not choose this path. We need at least one winger, a midfielder and a back up for Theo. And we need to rid a bunch of players... Maignan (Sportiello) Calabria (Singo) - Thiaw (Kalulu) - Tomori (Kjaer) - Theo (?) When all the drama happened I told everyone to be patient so we could wait and see how things would pan out. Honestly, at this moment at least, it seems like a master class move to fire Maldini and sell Tonali. Nothing better than a bit of controversy to get people engaging on the internet. They got a lot of bad press and emotional reactions from so many people. But that just set the stage for them to produce more headlines about their signings. Maldini seemed to want to begin risking financial security for CL glory, which if won would subsidize the risk. But if not won then financial insecurity becomes a real risk. The new management are not afraid to sell some players and use that to reinvent the squad. Manchester City do the same. They’re not afraid to sell players for big sums and reinforce the squad with 2 new players from the sale. Rotation of squad members is key. It also produces unpredictability on the field. The important thing is that there are still a decent amount of pillars keeping the structure of the team sound, Pioli being one of the main factors. The midfield was our weakness last season. They failed us in the winter. We played a 5 man defense to cover for their very very poor form. Everyone wants to blame the right wing but honestly, Messiahs did well while Tonali, Bennecer and Diaz did jack shit all winter long. Pioli trusted Krunic in the double pivot and everything changed. But it’s not good that Krunic plugged the hole in the midfield. Milan needed a complete overhaul and it looks like it’s all coming together. I really hope they switch to the 433. I think it will provide the team with a much better balance and will give Leao even more room to exploit space and become a greater threat. It will also give Giroud and Taremi move space to drop into and connect with the rest of the team, providing more space for Leao and Pulisic to exploit. Similar attacking style as Liverpool in their title winning season. But the midfield and defense will look a lot different with Theo cutting in a lot more, Calabria staying back, Reijnders pushing forward instead of staying deep like Fabinho. It’s going to be really interesting. I can’t wait.

Bro, Krunic is crucial. He saved us last season in the slump. Just look at the stats. When he started in the double pivot our problems went away. It was the Tonali/Bennecer duo that causes most of the problems. That’s why Bennecer got pushed into the 10 role. Krunic is valuable af. A crucial rotation player who loves the team and works hard. Calabria is the same sort of passion. It’s important to keep these players. Tata is gone. Gabbia is needed for squad registrations and is a good backup player.

After the season ended, I thought the only way for this club/team (AC Milan) to get better and take it to the next level is either we get a new manager/head coach or get better players. We are now getting better players for a good price during this summer transfer window and the club isn't afraid to spend this time around. Football is always about money. If you wanna win trophies, you need money to invest in the team. Making sure the players fit in with the coach's style of play, tactics and philosophy. I'm not saying we need to be like Chelsea, Manchester City or PSG but hopefully we can maintain top 4 in Serie A and if we're lucky enough, win some trophies along the way. Forza Milan!

Tbh I am quite satisfied with the mercato till now, but what scares me is the fact that will there be enough leadership in the squad will their be another elephant in the dressing room, with Ibra and Maldini now gone I fear if there would be some lack of motivation in the squad

The real test for the management will be offloading unwanted players. They're making fair deals with other clubs (mostly because the players only want Milan) and they sold a star player for a reasonable amount. But want about guys like Rebic, Origi or even CdK. That's where some extra millions for some nice backups could come from.

Exactly Origi and Rebic are top of the list. CDK needs to go on loan to atalanta or something . Messias and saelaemanda needs to go too . Leave fbt for backup or sign someone else for the same amount if he wants to step down yo his level to be a starter in Genoa or something

@@enumahchinemelum7829 Good points but I disagree on CdK. He played CL with Bruegge. I don't think the problem is that he doesn't have the quality and needs to be developed at another team - he just didn't fit into the team IMO. Worst case - he has a bad loan spell and his value drops even more. Look for example at Valentino Lazaro and Inter - they bought the guy at 22 mil, had some games in his first season but after that no coach trusted him and he's on loan spells ever since with his market value dropping. To me it seems like Pioli has zero trust in CdK. Better to offfload him - unlesss he really shines in the preparation of the season. But that didn't help Adli last year either...

For me, the issue with CDK is that some young players find it hard to adapt in Italy their first year, especially if they are coming from leagues where the level isn't that high or where they don't Kay my h emphasis on tactics and off the ball movements like they do in Italy. He might just click in a club like Atalanta or Leverkusen or where the stakes and expectations aren't that too high like in Milan . I haven't seen much from him though to suggest he's a great player. Didn't watch Belgian league and with his performances for Milan, I wouldn't think twice selling him if I were the coach or SD
