Min 7:50 (Sorry! you answer this question a few seconds later. 👍 ) With the heat pump, "they say" the default is usually heat, i.e. the Orange-wire reversing valve needs energy to put the system into cooling mode (right?). On this unit, default is Cooling mode (correct?). Thanks for making! An adding to my "short fix" collection.

Great video Lex! I have a question if it was a short on the green wire which is fan, what would that indicate?
@LexVance
@LexVance 6 жыл бұрын
Robert Munguia I would look for a nic or see if the green wire was skinned up & shorting on something first. If there was no sign of damage on green, I'd remove the green wire from the t stats G slot. then I'd take a wire that's not being used in the t stat & put it in the G slot on the t-stat & put that same wire where the green was inside the air handler. That's all there is to it! Thank you so much for watching Robert! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com

I got a question for you do you ever get residents living on the top floor getting all the heat saying that their AC is not cooling. They try to reach 70 degrees and it's reading 74 the air temp is good 57° coils are clean fan is blowing good pressures are good. I tell them they're not going to reach 70 degrees. The rooms have 2 ton units inside and out. It should be enough to cover the square footage in the room cuz it's not very big do you ever get this kind of issues and how did you deal with it? Oh work in south texas. Hot as hell here
@LexVance

Daniel Martinez All the time! I say to them as I point up at the ceiling that "its literally 180 degrees on the other side of the sheet rock". And, that they live on the 3rd floor & heat rises. I do that after I show them that their system is good. I make sure they see me taking wet bulb readings & checking the coil & everything. I have an app called "Emerson Check & Charge" that I show them on my phone with all the calculations and saying every thing is good.The app is free in your play store. The ceiling insulation sucks at apartments. Always has been & always will be. Sometimes I tell'em that if I have to. I live in Florida. Its been 108 heat index here. I feel your pain skid. how did you connect those wire jumpers i bought some and they came seperate .. do you just wire them all together
@LexVance
@LexVance 6 жыл бұрын
blaine stapp Yep. I cut them so they're all the same size. Then, I stripped the ends & wire nutted them together. Then, I wrapped wire nut in black electrical tape & melted it a little with a lighter. Thank you so much for watching Blaine! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com

I have a set that I fused one wire. If I have a short in the control I hook it to red and jump out the other wires with an amp probe on the fused wire it will help trouble shoot problems. Mine like his have 4 wires. I work on 2 stage stuff a lot.

Next time I use it I will. I got 2 jumper wires & cut them in half. Then, I stripped the wires & wire nutted them together. Then, I took some black electrical tape & wrapped it around the wire nut & melted it with a lighter so it hardened around the wire nut. What do you do if it is the red wire? My thermostat isn't controlling anything. Installed a new one and same thing. The fan comes on but there. won't shut it off. Heat and air don't come on either
@LexVance
@LexVance 5 жыл бұрын
If the short is on the red wire then use another wire not being used in its place. If there isn't one, you'll need to run new thermostat wire. Thank you so much for watching Leigh! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com

SuperMudMuppet the infrared has a cone shape reading. When shooting it at a vent per day it’s reading the surface temp of the vent and wall unless you’re reading the surface temp like touching the end to a pipe.
