Ac to dc converter circuit 220V TO 24V DC Output

An AC to DC converter circuit does exactly as its name implies: it takes a harmonic AC input and converts it to a DC output. These circuit are simply from a high level and when operating at low power on a breadboard, but a real AC to DC converter circuit is more complex than just a transformer and rectifier circuit.

Resistor at Neutral Line 1w wouldn't get hot? I use 2w carbon film resistor will not hot,other than that will get hot. 1w can't. Metal oxide resistor 2w also can't.
