Great video! I never knew about the diode in the DC flybacks and thank you for that. In the case the AC flyback, the output wires are always of opposing polarity and switching tens of thousands of times per second or more. They aren’t both negative or both positive, but they definitely are both hot.

Thank you. Voltage is fun even if it bites you once and a while.

@@cbfull I got hit with a voltage multiplier on an ac flyback. The good news was it was one hand. A week later I got both hands at the same time. If there were more amps I would be dead. But the volts had me sitting down for hours wondering why I keep playing with these things.

But..... How can a split layer of copper foil rectify the output ? Does it somehow act like a diode in some mysterious way? Could you please elaborate a bit on this?
@nathanbunten42999 ай бұрын
They act more like a resistor than a diode. Every pin has a lesser value the further out the plastic and copper is in the winding. The core is just a bunch of wire. All a diode does id make things go one way. In this case the outer part cannot go back to the inner part. It is to weak. So it does make a good diode. The material that I had to saw away was probably the real key here. In my personal opinion ac and dc are words used to describe the input voltage and not the voltage created by the flyback. It is more of a magnetic volt.

How did you make the voltage multiplier? Is it just Diodes? Thanks for the video. I have been working on making a tesla coil from a fly back and with one fly back I had impressive results but the fly back was like the dc one in your video but failed after a few minutes. I tried various other fly back that looked the same but I did not get the same results and most burnt up almost instance. I made my own fly back transformer and it pulls some nice arcs but would not work on my tesla coil. I know now why thanks to your video. So not I need to make my AC fly back into a DC fly back with adding what you are calling a voltage multiplier. I would love to see exactly what you have made it from it you don't care to share.

I just did a live show about a tesla coil that is an ac flyback. The way to make an ac flyback better is get the best insolated wire. The degrees matter. Also vacuum epoxy around it. Here is a link for the live. Also I will add one more link for the round tesla coil. Keep in touch if you want to know more. Here are the links.
