Thinking about it, these Trigger subtitles did make Count’s line about kindness getting you killed sort of sound like foreshadowing
@ervineonline2 жыл бұрын
Yeah... It's sad too... Count was always in competition with Trigger, and considers him his rival. When Bandog put the spotlight on Count, he felt like he could gain a small victory over Trigger. This may have clouded Count's judgement, and hastened the incident. Because of this, Trigger feels partially responsible, but knows Count will probably never truly get over it. Thanks for your comment!

Brilliant performance. Trigger really shines here: in surviving a suicidal mission, in his destruction of the enemy, in his protecting of allies (even those he disagrees with,) and in how he retains his morals in war, even in the face of his own countrymen committing multiple miscarriages of justice, both to and in front of him. Trigger’s trials just with Spare alone would drive most people insane. He is the hero Osea needs in this war, though one could easily say Osea does not deserve him. I like how you had Trigger start to piece together that the Hornets at the end of the mission were drones. Erusea using Helios with their own aircraft in the airspace would be inhumane or utterly desperate with those aircraft being manned, but with unmanned aircraft? It makes a grim sort of sense. Your enemies have two major threats to contend with, and data from the drones could improve Helios’ accuracy, similar to using simpler drones to correct artillery fire in ground warfare. Deploying both the IFF-spoofing drones and the Helios here, along with the unique satellite-guided SAM system, helps show just how valuable this radar facility was to Erusea. They are deploying two of their most powerful/sensitive assets, plus an expansive, expensive defense, just to try to stop this particular radar base from being attacked. The drones and Helios seem to arrive late, but the point still stands. Destroying this radar base probably severely damaged Erusea’s drone defenses and really ticked some Erusean higher-ups off… Bandog’s actions here were dirty, even with Full Band’s actions (as others here have noted) being an open confession to committing treason against Osea that implicated all of Spare Squadron. Full Band’s actions deserved punishment, but Bandog took an immoral and illegal approach to dealing with it, likely meant to protect himself more than anything, chuckling when he doomed Full Band to death. Two wrongs don’t make a right here, even if Bandog protects the rest of Spare too. Bandog’s actions, among those of others, help drive home the reality that Osea, despite not typically starting the wars it sees in the Ace Combat world and being the side Trigger still fights for, definitely has a rotten side to it. My headcanon is that Trigger continues to fight for Osea, at this point, less out of love of country than than love of flying and to prove his innocence, so he can actually have a life after the war. He may also have some desire to avenge lost comrades or perhaps to keep the war away from his family back in Osea. Sorry about the essay. In any event, I’m really looking forward to how your Trigger reacts to the next mission.

Outstanding summary as usual! I think Trigger does have family in Osea, but I need to double-check some things before I establish them. I think you hit it on the head with his motivations. There are also some parallels between him and Mihaly that I will address later.

This is excellent 👌👌 also seems to go almost perfectly with the "cannon" Trigger For a while I had a Head cannon where Trigger was something along the lines of a new Razgriz Squadron composed of elite pilots secretly embedded in different squadrons for Intelligence and morale support. So the virtually impossible "guilty" verdict against him after Harling's fiasco was actually a plan to get him into the 444 Sq. to help mold them into an actually capable unit to help plug the losses of the war so far, and then his transfer into the LRSSG was done to help them end the war...otherwise I just can't fathom the Osean Brass finding Trigger guilty of even manslaughter (let alone murder)

I don't know what's worse enemies spoofing our IFFs or the fact that their red lighting proves that they behave strangely on helping to fight breast cancer or Jeff Bezos sending nukes to whack your plane using his drone hub. It's up to you to decide 😂😂😂😂

Bandog did nothing wrong. I’m serious. Full Band confessed on an open radio channel to treason against the Osean Federation and was in jeopardy of implicating every one of Spare Squadron’s remaining pilots, including Bandog himself. He had already verbally fucked himself into an open-and-shut death penalty conviction, Bandog simply saw to it that the sentence was merely expedited, just a tiny bit extra-judiciously and using Count as the impromptu headsman. Bandog has also shown a growing respect for Trigger, and to a lesser extent the non-shithead pilots of the 444th, and from a certain point of view this is perhaps the ultimate expression of that respect. He was willing to murder a dude in cold blood who was about to get everyone else on the team executed as accessories to treason, Trigger included.

Ideally, Full Band would have just been imprisoned for the rest of the war. However, the security breach would have destroyed the careers of Colonel McKinsey, Bandog, and whoever else was involved. It also could have compromised the war effort for Osea. Using Count to shoot down Full Band seemed justifiable, but Full Band didn't know he was committing treason. Granted, ignorance isn't an excuse, but Full Band was killed without approval. For that reason, I don't condone the actions of Bandog, and putting the blood on Count's hands to protect their careers is something that I think Trigger will never forget. It really reminds me of how you are betrayed in AC5, and that really irks me.

@@ervineonline A fair counterargument. I think the crux of the issue is that Bandog is, despite his redeemable qualities compared to McKinley, still the kind of awful person who supervises a penal unit. If a more humane option existed, the one Bandog chose was certainly most expedient for someone who always talks about how expendable Spare Squadron is. In other words, even if Bandog were justified because of an imminent security leak, a better person still wouldn’t commit murder by proxy and chuckle about it. Remember that Bandog giggles a bit after asking Full Band’s location.

@@ervineonlineYeah and he was going on and on, he would've mentioned Operation Dragon Breath(AKA Stonehenge defensive) sooner or later. If Bandog waited to imprison him after the mission there would be a good chance he said something critical to the stonehendge mission on a channel that could easily be intercepted, dooming the whole mission to failure.
