ACAD Xref attach vs overlay

Thank you! It works better to work with overlays when you have Xref inside Xref that are used in the main layout as Xref too. Thanks for the explanation!

thank you, this helped me so much understanding the differences, i have dwgs that reference the same xrefs many times i found it helpful to attach the first set i need in everything, and then overlayed anything else that contained the original xref so i dont have multiple xrefs with the same information inside them

It's a matter of preference. I prefer to use mostly overlay just to ensure I don't have any circular references. If you're not going to xref the 2nd drawing into a 3rd then attach is just fine.
