Academy - Stand Up [1985]

Stand Up was the fourth of six singles released by 80s UK pop group Academy. This is the only footage I've ever seen of them, presumably taken from some European music show.
Originally upload to KZbin years ago in 360p quality, the account hosting it appears to have closed. Thankfully I managed to save it before then and have redubbed the original mono audio with a HQ rip of the UK 7" vinyl. Sadly, there was only part of the video clip and not the full track. The picture quality really sucks too. Still, better than nothing, I suppose.

Good find! I was in a band the same sort of time as these guys. They became INCREDIBLY arrogant when they got their deal with RCA! We did a magazine shoot with them and a couple of other bands and they wouldn't speak to anyone... They performed at The Hippodrome (I think, this was 37 years ago!) one night and actually had their own minders to keep people out of their so-called VIP area - it had two people in it... I don't think they ever really bothered the charts though, which to be fair was a shame as the songs were pretty good. I just think they sounded so much better without the massively over the top production of Zeus B Held. If anyone can find the original (pre-RCA) single version of On The Beach, you'll see what I mean.

Oh wow you are talking about academy?!?!!! I love tgat band! Wow didnt know that they were so arrogant! Can you tell me some more things about academy? They seem so mysterious! Are there any live concerts? On the beach should have been a hit!

I saw them Supporting Dead or Alive n met Tim afterwards, saw them at some Uni in London n the Embassy club n they were lovely, not arrogant at all ❤
