To the members of the team, I first want to thank you guys so much for expressing ideas that are usually unknown and undesirable in the consumer heavy societies we live in. I have actually taken one of your videos in the political playlist and transformed it into an extensive essay used to get into graduate school(I got accepted). However, I have one lingering concern about the maybe bias content of your videos. Namely, this channel seems to focus on the psychology of behaviors associated with the many things humans experience, granted that this channel focuses on that. But given the actual content of what you present, I find that a broadened approach to the topics would be fruitful. For example, including eastern ideas about experience and existence, since, as some claim, western ideologies as the source of western problems(in contrast with vestigial biological systems)-----> This would be, in some cases, the antithesis of your videos. Like this video for example, Eastern thought holds that the self that we identify with is not real and is just constructed for social convention. A simple argument(but arguable ) one eastern scholar (Alan watts) made is that improving one's is never possible because the self that you see to be higher or a better version of you (the second self) must already be you in order for you to become it. Its like the principle of non-contradiction or a version of reductionsim. In another way, the version of yourself that needs improving will be improved by the same version of yourself that needs to be improved in the first place. So if one succeed in 'improving', then one was already the version of themselves that they wanted to be necessarily. Though, you could make the argument that changes in behavior are a key aspect of improving, in this case, one isnt improving, one is just changes one's behavior and its neither good nor bad---> Because the maladaptive tendencies and addiction and so on, are natural. They are what the everything is doing. If it were not meant to be, then it would not be. The myth that there is some thing wrong is simply that. I know it will be unlikely for a response to this, but leave a like or dislike to notify me that this was read. It would be greatly appreciated

Ever since I've watched your videos, they've had the eerie effect of answering life long doubts and questions I've had about myself, reality society and my place in it. Every time you upload a new video I hesitate to click on it and it always bugged me. I would procrastinate for hours, days, or weeks to click on them. But when I inevitably do, it always holds the answer or articulate what I'm feeling into a way for me to comprehend and take a course of action. YESSSS!!!!! 7 years ago - I began writing a novel about a travelling carnival. I wrote all the character development and rolls set within the first couple chapters and closed the book: Saying; 'I have to go live the story now'. Alas, through these 7 years - I have met all these people in person! Even living alongside a confused circus - completely 'by chance'. This whole way through - eye wrote a second series about my inner world self and outer observations. Developing mine own character; while living half in a dream and half in a shared reality... This, was a lovely reminder of such illuminations and veils to the next layer of uncovery! Thank you

@kostaftp

Neville Godard talks about this in his "Act as if" lessons. The more time you can be in your desired Self mode, the more you will internalize these behaviors and will make them natural. The subconscious works with images and feelings so this technique is very usefull for change your personality. I even have my own mental mastermind round table, when I need to think some business strategy, I sit in my mind with my marketing heroes ( Jay Abraham, Phillip Kotler...etc) and imagine what they would make in these situations.

Using a double self could be productive, but abusing it is dangerous to a degree. Kierkegaard warned of it before: “Thus when the ambitious man, whose slogan was "Either Caesar or nothing", does not become Caesar, he is in despair over it. But this signifies something else, namely, that precisely because he did not become Caesar he now cannot bear to be himself. Consequently he is not in despair over the fact that he did not become Caesar, but he is in despair over himself for the fact that he did not become Caesar.”

This journey then is for those who can already not bear to be themselves. But also, as is mentioned, it is not necessary to become an exact replica of those we wish to emulate, just to strive to become more than we are.

I feel we just have to separate outside goals from internal ones, if you setup a double self to become an Oscar winner it might lead to dissatisfaction, but if you set it up to improve as let's say an actor, I don't see any danger. As long as the results are dictated by yourself and not others.

I was medically retired from the Army after I was blown up and shot. I was an Infantry Squad Leader, and prided myself on my leadership, strength and tenacity. Once retired I had to make a new self because all the parts of me that existed were either dead or not acceptable in a civilized society. I went back to school, and ended up with an MBA; however, during that period my biggest adversary was time. When the semesters ended, I’d often find myself with time... Then the self-suppressive escapism I used to deal with my experiences would surface. I have a new persona, but sometimes the old “me” does come out. I’m going to carry a coin, and see if I can “flip” myself back and forth. Interesting concept.

I did this with my shadow self and it worked without a flaw. Years ago I used to throw caution to the wind and focus on trying to be a good Christian thinking that if I only focused on the positive and did good by others everything would work out. All it led to was self repression and me being a gullible rouse😡. Focusing on our negative attributes and working with them to secure a better future for ourselves instead of denying them gives us clarity of mind.

I'm 20. Soon my youth will be over. Yet I sit writing all day long, thinking that it will always be as such. The greatest tragedy in this life is a man who doesn't witness the mental and physical potential of his prime. Becoming the second self is essential for me and many others trapped in a state of passivity.

I would say Jung's No. 2 personality represents more of a ancestral connection to the collective unconscious and if anything like this perhaps a representation of the potential on has in self integration, not really a consciously crafted ideal one is meant to emulate.

@aleksaholcer9334
@aleksaholcer9334 4 жыл бұрын
@@troybernal5085 Memories, dreams and reflections is the biography of C. G. Jung. In it Jung explains a part of his childhood in which he found himself at a very young age contemplating the problem of god, mainly due to his father being a clergyman, this leads him to think about a lot of other philosophical problems at this young age. In a way he finds himself split between the child that he is and the childish problems he has (model or personality 1) and this part of himself that feels the connection to the larger world and wonders about its nature (model 2, can be compared to the archetype of the wise old man). Later as he grows he finds himself connecting less with personality 2 as he goes trough his young adult and student years and is in a situation where he has to interact with the world more so he can establish himself (studying medicine) but as he gets to his later psychological and mystical works he seems to channel it more and more.

I am only speaking of my experience and only my experience: If there are issues of childhood neglect and abuse, and try to do a second self could lead to trouble. My experience has been to heal my childhood pain and then do a second self because it takes better root with some of that childhood stuff healed. And yes! Easier said than done. But it’s the only game in town for myself.

I did this while playing in Dungeons and Dragons and I didn't even realize it for the longest time. I make the connection when I was out with friends and was looking at clothes when I commented "This is so very Kassandra" while looking at something purple. What I meant in that moment was that I liked that girly thing, but it wasn't ok for ME to like, but it was ok for Kassandra to like it. Playing this character for several years, she embodied many traits I wanted myself. Freedom, courage, femininity - and I explored myself by playing her and realized this is who I want to be in many ways. I am going to do this exercise by creating a D&D character who is me in D&D - Kassandra's long lost friend or something. I am unsure of my ritual, perhaps it is pulling out my D20 in those times - keeping those dice on me so I can remember I am roleplaying.

Personality is merely a form of characteristics enacted by our own self limiting and at times outlandish beliefs. What separates what we choose as self limited and what is outlandish, is the self awareness of that character before and after every ritual. We can self limit ourselves to some of the most possible outcomes there is in life, while maintain outlandish beliefs regardless of its impossibility. All through the act of thought and rituals before and after said thoughts 💭 Personality is run by a settings of emotions and memories placed through out our lives by our selves and our environments. When one realizes (me) that they have been a product of their environment and themselves through the practice of any form of rituals. They then face a MOUNTAIN of settings that apply to some rituals that are inevitable to escape. Due to the ‘self limiting’ beliefs that their past has engrained in them through their natural settings ‘personality’, they face what billions of people on this planet see as possible to be impossible ( granted the recent traumas in their lives speeded this need for resolve ) it has inevitably caused a horrendous ‘self fulfilling prophecy within that individual’ where by the belief of ‘TRANS-formation’ may seem ‘outlandish’ but only because of the inevitable rituals that, that person performs that keeps that idea ruminating. Get me laid already guys this is just ridiculous at this point.

Damn, the beginning of the video is so important to learn at an early age. I've learned it just recently in my twenties and it sucks. While in school I did not realize that it's a skill to be learned - sculpting your future giving the tools to do it. I thought all you need is tools. And being above average in class didn't help with avoiding getting a huge ego, thanks mum and teachers.

What if there is no one you wish to emulate? I believe there are many "great" people and whether you'll ever hear about them is just a matter of circumstance. But also that all Great people are flawed and their flaws are merely covered by their circumstance. The person i wish to become is a better version of myself, not an idealised version of someone else.

Ive always tried to stick my head into other people's. Zing. I started digesting concepts instead of the fine details. Once i got into the whole concept of God and what it is to be a god... Its a little.. Harrowing. Shattering. They say its impossible to stare into gods face, which it is, from a scientific perspective. But you can stare into mine. ;) Meditation is important. I pretty much have everything figured out at this point, on the conceptual level. Diogenes was my favorite philosopher. But ill get to spreading this stuff around. People didn't kill god, well, they did. But ima murder that man once and for all so people can move out of their parents house and stop being little shits.
