This is a song I wrote many years ago with my friend, Kiris Houston! We wrote the song when I first moved to London from New York City. The song was inspired by the Rodrigeuz song ‘Sugar Man’, from the Oscar-winning Documentary Searching for Sugar Man. I thought to myself “if a Sugar Man is a drug dealer, then what would a Sugar Woman be?” From that question, a bittersweet story was born about hope, sadness, and not giving up, even if life has taken you down some pretty dark roads. My friend and brilliant filmmaker/director, Craig McCall helped to create this stunning music video that I absolutely love! He brought in his long-time friend, Emmy award-winning David Langan as Director of Photography who did the most beautiful lighting to really capture the mood of the song… it’s everything I hoped for and more.
