Amazing! I think car will stop from 210 to complete stop automatically but very close to the car in front. And I have a idea. Go to some big place (track or something similar) with no obstlaces around and try lane keep assist and acc on wet surface and try to oversteer the car and see how acc and lane assist will react. Will acc and lane keep assist try to brake or turn back steering. Super video.

Thank you:)! ACC has certain limits with manual transmission/stick shift. It activates >= 30 km/h and deactivates below 20 km/h. Concerning DSG/automatic transmission you are right! @your idea :)... lane assist needs lane markings in order to work. ACC will only brake with another car in front slowing you down. Lane assist would probably steer back if markings are on the road and the camera can see them good enough (not too wet/rainy). Otherwise ESC will probably brake certain wheels to stabilize the car - if activated :).

nerd rides ok, thanks for answer. I know that lane assist needs lines but if lines be on road i think system will try to turn back into lanes. Sorry if i make mistakes in typing im not from US or UK i speak Bosnian.

How did you set it on 210km/h, I can't set ACC over 160km/h (passat b8 2.0bitdi 2016)

Front assist will brake if the speed differential is to high.

excellent video. I have 2 questions: does your lane assist want to go to the right, when there is an exit on the highway? i have a 2013 golf 7 and the lane assist "wants" to take every exit to the right... it is a little annoying... I want to change vehicle soon to have a little more power (150 hp instead of 110), and i wonder if this lane assist problem is fixed in the newer vw products (the ones from 2017). Second question is: do you know if the predictive (gps guided) ACC is available only on the arteon or also in the other 2017 models (golf 7.5, 2017 passat etc)? Thank you.

Thank you, greatly appreciated! 1. the current lane assist is way better than former versions. The system even adapts to where you prefer to drive - more left/right or in the middle of the lane. Exits are not a problem - the Passat stays in the lane. 2. i am not sure if the ACC is combined with GPS. For the Arteon ACC is combined with traffic sign detection which adapts speed to detected speed limit. This feature is not available with the current Passat. Technically possible but I guess VW marketing made this a „upper class“ feature which might get available in future Passat models.

nerd rides Very good. You answered well to my questions. thank you. There should be more channels dedicated to these new autonomous features. but it seems people are strangely not very curious about them... even if it makes highway travel totally different and way safer. Sad... Cheers.

nerd rides There is something very interesting that i spotted lately. That being said, maybe you wont find it interesting ;). I have been very enthousiastic about he new mercedes A class 2018, with all the great self driving features at a "reasonnable" price (compared to S class etc). BUT i think the mercedes lane assist ONLY engages when the ACC (mercedes calls it distronic as know) is also engaged. I think this is a fascining difference with the VW approach. As you know in the VW assistance packages, wa can have the lane assist active even when the ACC is off. I think it is way better this way (the VW way), because sometimes it can be necessary to drive very agressively on the highway (late to an appointment etc) and using the accelerator and the brake ourselves and very agressively (meaning , the ACC is not good for this situation), but still wanting to have lane assit on. In Mercedes models, if i understand correctly, whêdistronic is not active, there is only a kind of lane departure warning (not actively centering), and active centering is only when acc is on... I m not sure at all that i have been clear in my explanation . It is not very complicated but i probably dont formulate it well... I will try to have confirmation of this distronic aspect, but if you have the info, i would be happy to know. If not, well, i will ask in the mercedes forums to confirm and/or go to the mercedes dealer... Cheers! ( PS: before i realized this difference, i was ready to plan to buy the A class in the futur, but if there is no lane assist without acc, i will stay with VW...)

I unfortunately do not have a current a class within my reach but you are right - distronic = ACC. I think it’s best to go for a test ride @ the next dealer and/or check some of the a class videos on KZbin. The 2018 a class comes with other assistance features like lane change assist. I am not sure though if all of them are available in every country.

How does it work the ACC?How can i turn it on? Could you make a video please?
@nerdrides

ACC is a radar based system which accelerates and brakes according to the speed set and the vehicle driving in front of you. It’s easily turned on... there is a „0/1“ Button on the left side of the steering wheel to activate the system. Then you only need to set the speed by pushing SET on the same side of the steering wheel (sets ACC speed to current driving speed) . Once the speed is set you can adjust it by pressing +/- buttons which will accelerate/brake the car without using the pedals :D. Fun stuff!

@nerdrides
@nerdrides 5 жыл бұрын

Ja, da braucht man schon bisschen freie Fahrt.
