The No. 9 North Carolina Tar Heels turned up the defense as they rallied from a 10-point 2nd-half deficit to beat the NC State Wolfpack, 79-70. Four players scored in double figures for Hubert Davis' squad, led by Harrison Ingram's 22 points on 8-14 shooting to go along with 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Elliot Cadeau added 15 points on 5-7 shooting with 7 assists while RJ Davis chipped in 14 points and Armando Bacot scored 13 points in the win. Jayden Taylor scored 22 points and DJ Horne added 20 points in the loss.

Even with the win, Carolina lets teams just hang around in the game. These unc teams that just squeak out wins always concern me. Good Dean and Roy era teams closed out mediocre teams in the first half and didn't look back, scoring over 100 regularly

Tell us you haven't actually watched UNC basketball since 1980 without actually telling us. I have seen plenty of this during both the Dean Smith and Roy Williams years. It happens. I am more concerned the last 4 minutes of play in almost every game over the last month.

@surreal1272 my point exactly. I know we had seasons with many close games with any coach. Especially in the ACC. Being spoiled with 2 HOF coaches so far over my lifetime, I compare this current team with every other top 10/ championship unc team.

Whaaaat? 😮 Naaaw! Carolina and State were bitter rivals in the early 80s. Update: they've only met 215 times and unc leads 140-75. I think you were just being funny, though.

The heels haven't played their best lately but keep winning for the most part. Where's that impressive defense they were playing at mid-season. Still a good team but the bench hasn't stepped up lately.

They only allowed 6 field goals the entire 2nd half…first half defense was lazy but they turned it on after halftime

Carolina fan here. Wasn't it just very strange when Burns drew his 4th foul he never saw one minute the rest of the game? That was a head scratcher to me. Glad he didn't but was just the strangest thing i have ever witnessed in the rivalry

They have moments of greatness but I don’t see this Wolfpack team beating Duke tomorrow. So…it looks like the regular season title is going to depend on whether UNC can beat Duke at home. This season has been all over the place

Idc how many points we win by just Aslong as we win. The year we beat duke and lost to Kansas we weren’t even supposed to make it that year and had a terrible year btw. Just cuz Carolina has a great year doesn’t mean we are going to win the tournament or vice versa. The year we beat Gonzaga back in 2017 when we 2 peated to the championship after prior lose to Villanova (buzzer beater) they were undefeated all year and then we beat them in the championship. So idc how we win or how much we win by just aslong as we WIN!

He was out yesterday due to illness. I think his lack of minutes is due to not being ready for the physicality at this level quite yet. He plays hard but has been prone to fouling a lot

Heels wins!!! Gotta get better in the last 8 minutes of the game, we scored 11 to there 15. Mando missed to easy touches. Gotta attack the rim at the end of games dude. Can’t settle for jump shots. I’ll take free throws or at least chew the clock away.
