Driving simulators are playing an increasingly important role in the research and development of vehicles, particularly in the areas of vehicle dynamics, human comfort factors, and advanced driver assistance systems. This is especially true for suspension systems, which are notoriously difficult to develop and validate due to the complex interactions between the vehicle, the environment, and driving conditions. To address this challenge, TENNECO, a company that develops suspension systems, has incorporated simulation tools into its development process, enabling it to test its shock absorbers much earlier and at lower cost than before.
