Acceleration: Acceleration of a body is defined as the rate of change of velocity of the body with time.
• SI unit of acceleration is m/s² or ms¯².
• Acceleration is a vector quantity.
• Acceleration may be zero, +ve or -ve.
• The -ve acceleration is called retardation.
• The direction of acceleration is along the direction of velocity.
• The -ve acceleration (i.e. retardation) is in a direction opposite to the direction of velocity of the body.
