Acceleration TESTS Before Mods! - Yamaha MT 03

I plan on getting an ECU reflash, velocity stacks, and an AIS block off plate on my Yamaha MT-03, but before modding, let's see how quick the bike is! Acceleration tests are performed in each gear with a final 5mph - 60mph acceleration run to set the baseline performance numbers of the bike. How quickly does a fairly stock Yamaha MT-03 accelerate? The bike does have a full exhaust installed from Two Brothers Racing, but without a tuned ECU the performance may actually be hurt rather than improved in it's current condition. After the modifications, I will repeat this testing to compare. The ECU reflash will be from Two Wheeled Dyno Works, the velocity stacks and air injection system block off plate is from TST Industries.

I have plans to buy the mt 03, but here in brazil we dont have this color, and i really enjoyed your bike color. Nice vid too mate, keep going with this great content about this awesome bike.

Thank you! And just so you know, this color is not available anywhere directly from Yamaha. I removed all the plastics and had a friend cover them with 3M Gloss Lucid Yellow vinyl wrap ;)

im planning on doing these exact mods but the only difference is im looking to get a full akropovic exhaust. i relaly like your methodology of testing. great video

That thing is a pig. It makes sense to get the ecu flashed as some fool put on a full exhaust. However, you shouldn't put any more money into performance on an mt03. You are only hurting resale value, and it will always be an mt03. That bike doesn't have enough power to be safe on the road. Practice and spend your money on upgrading to a new bike. Not hating, I like the educational content of you showing just what the bike will do.

I've had a lot of different bikes over the years, from VFR800s up to superbikes (a CBR1000RR) and Ducati Multistradas. I currently also own a Concours 14 which is a rocket. Even though I have and have had faster bikes, I'm really enjoying the MT-03. I love wringing it's little neck, bouncing off the rev limiter, and not hitting jail time speeds so easily. A friend has a track prepped R3 and the extra bit of power and rideability from a flash and full exhaust makes it more enjoyable. I've taken bigger more powerful bikes to a few track days, but the track day I did on my MT-03 was the most fun I've had on track. I'm enjoying it for what it is.

I wish we had the red rims still on the MT-03 I don't know what Yamaha was thinking switching to Cyan. The red wheels look incredible. Hope they go back to red next year.

Cool color. I currently ride mt07 and I miss revving my previous mt03 - such fun bike to ride. mt07 is fun too but you need much higher speed so its easy to loose license or pay high ticket.
