Access 2016 training video on how to create a One-to-Many relationship between two tables, where you can have basically one record linked to many other records like: one customer that has many orders. This also includes enforcing referential integrity, cascade updates to related fields and deleting related records.

I'm sorry... did I miss something? When did you "create" a foreign key? The last video I watched explained why relationships between tables are important for queries but I don't recall actually creating a foreign key. Please help, I've created a practice database where I'm shadowing your tables... I copied and exported tables with headings only and headings and data; I moved the primary key to make multiple keys "5 Bobs, 10 Smiths but only one Bob Smith" but you had numbered the Manufacturer (codes instead of names) on the tblComputers and added the Employee IDs... but you didn't actually show how/when you did this. Should I just keep watching...? Thank you, by the way, I am learning alot and I will keep watching so I hope it will all make sense in the end...?

As you recall the last two training videos covered what to do to create a foreign key and where to place it as well as what name to give it, which is any name, but it needs to have the same data type and type of data as the Primary key field you'll be linking to. My preference was to give it the same name as the Primary key so as to avoid confusion when it comes to linking. Unfortunately, the video doesn't show how to add a field to the Table as that was already covered in the beginning of the Access training course. Perhaps that would have been a good idea to do an thank you for bringing that to my attention. So glad to hear you're learning 🙂 Please know I do have all the exercises on my website: www.dreamforce.us that may save time in recreating it including quizzes and a certificate of completion for only $10 a month. I do believe and hope it will all make sense for you in the end, in that Access is a process, and requires more setup to get the most out of it.

@@KirtKershaw Thanks for your speedy reply. I did continue and kept my fingers crossed that it would become clear ... and it did! Yaay! I realized that this particular portion was literally "listen... don't shadow". The next video is when you taught how to link them. Thank you so much!
